Three cheers for Sweet Julia

Another very difficult card on a rare Monday Fairview Polytrack meeting, but there are three runners that could be worth looking at.

Fizzy Bubbly has yet to win a race after 12 starts but is knocking on the door and can take out Race 2, a Maiden Plate over 1600m.

The William Longsword gelding has been runner-up in all three of his Polytrack starts and should prove too strong for a weak field.

Trainer Zietsman Oosthuizen has made a reasonable start to the season and Fizzy Bubbly has finished second to Mister Fox, who has won a couple of races since then, as well as to Grand Allegro, who has run well a few times since, and Golden Grey, who has also won again.

All of that points to jockey Wayne Agrella getting another welcome winner.

Stable companion Three Cheers, who runs in Race 5, a MR 82 Handicap for fillies and mares over 1600m, has also shown a liking for the Polytrack and is much improved this year.

The Soqrat filly has won three times on this surface in 2025 and was a good third behind Flight Display over 2000m earlier this month.

She is not well drawn and contests a competitive race, but she should at least be worth a place bet.

Trainer Gavin Smith seldom goes through a meeting without a winner, and his stable jockey, Craig Zackey, will be hoping it is third-time lucky with Sweet Julia.

The five-year-old mare was a disappointment last time out over 1200m after finishing runner-up twice with Zackey aboard.

Both those runner-up performances came over this course and distance, and she is worth a bet in Race 6, a FM 62 Handicap.
