ROCKET BOY and MAN OF ACTION are building good records since making their Malaysian debuts earlier this year are likely to head the markets for the 1300m Enrich Stakes contest (Race 6) at the Perak Turf Club this Saturday.
ROCKET BOY (3 wins from 6 starts) has won at this level previously and was a fraction unlucky after receiving a check at the start before finishing 4th behind stable mate Vincent’s Star a fortnight ago.
MAN OF ACTION (3 wins from 7 starts) appeared disappointing on face value when finishing unplaced in a 1400m Cosmo C race here on August 10. It was the six year old’s worst local performance so far but judging by his previous winning efforts, it may pay to forgive that run and a quick turnaround to his best form would not surprise.
It’s also interesting to note that apprentice jockeys, N Shahronnizam and Z Syafifie have been booked for both runners, replacing their regular senior partners.
Senior hoop How Yang, normally the regular rider for ROCKET BOY, will now partner stable mate LEONG MA BISCUIT which has finished runner up to MAN OF ACTION on two previous occasions.
FOREST GOLD, an impressive 5.25L winner at the last meeting, will be hard to beat again in the 1600m Class 5B event (Race 2). Not only will the five year old maintain his presence in the same grade but will carry less weight at the handicaps plus receives the benefit of the 3kg claim for local apprentice AR Aiman. FIGHT TO WIN had every chance before finishing out of the placings after leading in the race won by FOREST GOLD but goes down 4kg from that run. He is also a winner over this trip back in March.
Former New Zealand galloper WILSING is a chance for redemption following his last start defeat over 1400m and can bounce back in the 1100m Class 4A contest (Race 6). The five year old broke his maiden tag in a Class 4 race over Saturday’s journey two runs back and the drop back from Cosmo C company should also prove beneficial. COLONEL SON will prove hard to beat despite his first visit to the Ipoh circuit. Following successive Class 4 wins back in April and May, the six year old has performed well against a couple of strong Class 3 lineups in Selangor recently. The horse carried 59kg for his last win and he looks the logical danger on the downgrade.
DANCING TYCOON was one of the black bookers from the last Ipoh meeting following his fast-finishing 2nd over 1100m and appears a major player in the 1200m Class 5A contest (Race 12). Resuming from a two and a half month break, it was also the gelding’s first run for the T Asogan stable which is currently having a good run this season. SACRED SKY is a moderate beginner but does possess a quick turn of foot as displayed by his eye catching 4th in Selangor last Sunday. The seven year old is also a good chance of breaking through on the six day backup.
