Race 2 No 3 ACROBAT

He’s had genuine excuses at his last two outings. Two starts ago, he covered plenty of extra ground from a wide run, and last time an awkward jump severely dented his winning chances.

Given he was only 1.75 lengths away in fourth in Class 4 three runs back, the drop to Class 5 should give him every chance to produce an improved performance.

Race 7 No 3 COMMANDER

A tough run cost him victory last start when he was forced to race wide off the speed, covering plenty of extra ground. Despite the setback, he closed strongly to finish second, beaten only 0.75 lengths over 1400m.

This week he meets a below-par Class 4 field, and with a smoother passage in running, he has every chance to go one better.

Race 8 No 8 STAR NORTH

Resuming from a nine-month break last start, he settled off the speed from an inside draw and worked home well late to finish fifth over 1200m, beaten by only 2.75 lengths on the line.

Fitter for that run, he should be capable of securing a top-three finish if ridden with more early intent.

Race 11 No 7 IMPERIAL WAVE

A promising debutant from SY Lim’s stable, he raced in Australia with one win from six starts. In his last two outings in Victoria, his strong late finishes over 2100m and 1600m suggest he could be a handy stayer in Malaysia.

With few quality stayers in this week’s field, he’s expected to make an immediate impact first-up.
