The Chief Analyst of Usains Biomics Laboratory submitted a report dated 1st August 2025 (Ref: V25/115) regarding samples taken at the above race meeting. A total of 22 coded urine and 26 coded blood samples (Lab. Nos: V120646–V120669) were received on 19th July 2025 for analysis under MRA Rules and Regulations.
No prohibited substances were detected in the majority of samples, except for four samples coded “33657”, “33653”, “33647”, and “33649”, all of which tested positive for Methamphetamine. Upon decoding, the samples were traced to the following horses:
-
Sample “33657” – A BETTER TOMORROW (M130), which placed 3rd in Race 4 (R0493), trained by Trainer T Asogan
-
Sample “33653” – FLYING SPIDER (V184), which placed 3rd in Race 6 (R0495), trained by Trainer P Lee
-
Sample “33647” – CAVANA (T219), which placed 2nd in Race 7 (R0496), trained by Trainer T Asogan
-
Sample “33649” – FLEXI LAD, which placed 2nd in Race 8 (R0497), trained by Trainer S Cook
On 1st August 2025 at approximately 3:35 pm, Trainers T Asogan, P Lee, and S Cook were formally notified of the findings. Their attention was drawn to MRA Rule 137(1) and MRA Regulations 46.1 and 46.2 concerning referee samples.
The trainers were advised that A BETTER TOMORROW, FLYING SPIDER, CAVANA, and FLEXI LAD are prohibited from entering any races until cleared by the PRTC Stipendiary Steward under MRA Rule 134(12).
An inquiry into this matter will be convened at a date to be fixed.
