Due to nearly 100mm of rainfall over the past week—40mm of it in the last 24 hours—and with cold temperatures and little wind preventing the track from drying, the Hollywoodbets Kenilworth meeting originally scheduled for Sunday, 10 August 2025, has been postponed to Wednesday, 13 August 2025.
The meeting at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth features the exciting filly Wish List, a standout in Race 8. Bred for stamina but showing early speed, the daughter of Legislate was impressive last time, winning by nearly five lengths over Queen Regent. Trainer Justin Snaith has labelled her one to follow, and though Sunday’s run won’t define her, it’s a key test of her potential. With Richard Fourie away, Muzi Yeni takes the ride.
Viva La Vida offers competition with a similar record but less stamina in her pedigree.
Race 7 is the feature sprint over 1100m. The Us Of A impressed last start and faces Elusive Winter again, now 3kg better off. Roman Agent is also 3kg better and could challenge on form.
In the opener, Sendai, Spanish Verse, and Black Eagle look best, though betting should guide punters in a weak maiden.
Race 2’s Pomp It Up is expected to improve sharply after a debut behind smart types like African Memoir and Nightrain. In Race 3, Gimme What I Want, who finished behind Wish List on debut, looks ready to win.
South Of France gets the nod in Race 4 over Queen Regent, who could frank Wish List’s earlier form.
Races 5 and 6 give South African Jockey Academy riders valuable experience. In Race 5, Note To Self, with Trent Mayhew aboard, is a strong chance if he handles the step up in trip. Champion apprentice Brevan Plaatjies partners Escarpment in Race 6, a course specialist who loves soft going.
Look out for African Memoir and In A Timely Manner—both are future prospects.
Chance Encounter is the one to beat in the closer. A full brother to G1 winner Chansonette, he makes his 1400m debut under Corne Orffer.
