Tunku Gold Cup winner, Noah Khan, returned back to the races today in fine fashion when winning a Supreme A over 1200m in a hotly contested lineup of G1 horses. The field consisted of Super Salute who is the highest rated horse in the country; Filial Dragon who recently won the Perak Gold Vase and a few other honest runners that held steady form coming into the race.
From barrier 12, it wasn’t going to be easy in a field as competitive as this but Y Aify was eventually able to get him into a one out spot midway through the turn after heading into the turn three deep. The speed was on and he was able to receive a perfect run to peel off the leaders at the top of the straight and picked them off one by one to win by a length in the closing stages for S Siva.
The second Supreme A race took place in race 9 but this time over 1600m and Platinum Emperor stamped his authority as one of the best horses in the country with another impressive win, this time by over 2 1/2 lengths. He came from off the pace under M Lerner and used his turn of foot to full advantage when going past Cavalry in the closing stages in a rather comfortable manner. He was the top weight in the race but that couldn’t stop him as he passes the mile test with full colours and is a full force to reckon with for the Selangor Gold Cup over 1600m in September.
It was the M Lerner show today as he was the only jockey to have more than one win on the program as he rode a treble of winners including Platinum Emperor; Two Million and Hennu Stall. Of the training ranks J Ong; CW Choi and L Moy celebrated a double on the day.
Racing returns to the Selangor Turf Club next weekend on Saturday the 9th of August.
