Wednesday’s eight-race card at Hollywoodbets Scottsville may lack big fields, but it offers competitive racing, headlined by Race 6 (Gallop TV Class 3) and Race 7 (Online Form Guide B Stakes).
In Race 6, Plum Pudding looks set for a hattrick. The Andre Nel-trained filly is unbeaten since moving to KZN and hasn’t been harshly penalised in the ratings. She faces males this time but has strong claims. View Of The World and Trois Trois Quatre are closely matched, with the former now 1kg better off. The Mikado, returning from a break, could surprise — Robinson’s yard reports encouraging work.
Rosh Kedesh (Race 7) should go close for Dean Kannemeyer after a solid second on the poly. He has a better draw here. The Shepherd, runner-up to Gr2 winner Gladiatorian last year, returns after a long break but has ability. Nelson Bay and Kitchakal have place chances.
In Race 1, Sohot Sowhat looks a solid bet. She ran a good race in a Gr3 and a repeat effort makes her the one to beat. Convocation could challenge if reproducing recent polytrack form.
Race 2 sees Lady Of Vix taking on males again with just 49kg to carry. Major Tommie and Jet Legacy are better off at the weights and should be closer this time.
Race 3 is wide open. Echo, Promise Of Fire, and Lightinthedarkness all have claims, with blinkers potentially boosting the latter’s chances.
In Race 5, Gurkha has been consistent and is improving. French Trip drops in class and should be respected. World Of Our Own benefits from a claimer and good draw.
Finally, Sign Of Fate (Race 8) is consistent and narrowly beaten by Plum Pudding last time. Forward Motion and Beautiful Rania are both in form and weighted to feature.
