Seoul Race 1: Class 6 (1000M) Special Weight A / KRW 45 Million
Juvenile maidens will all but one racing for the first time. Favourite, and a short priced one at that, will be (2) DI NE. He was the quickest in trials, running 2nd in his heat behind Wonpyeong Sket, who was a comfortable winner on debut a couple of weeks ago. Well drawn to lead, he can go all the way. (4) MUNHAK DAESE will be second favourite. She went through two trials, setting fair times in both and improving to 2nd place in the second of them. She too can be on pace. Experience can count for plenty in these types of races so while (10) DDATTEUTHAN WIRO only managed 5th on debut (well beaten by Wonpyeong Sket), he can have come on for the run. Returning to the first timers, (6) MIGHTY BEAT and (1) SMART RISE hinted at ability in their trials.

Seoul Race 2: Class 6 (1200M) Special Weight A / KRW 30 Million
Fillies (and one mare) only in this maiden and we’ll take a chance on the solitary debut-maker. That’s (5) RAON FINAL, who showed on pace in her trial, leading close to the line and ultimately finishing a close 2nd in a decent time. She draws well and if she brings that form to the races, she has every chance first up. (3) WHITE ROMANCE has made progress across her latest couple, most recently when 3rd at 1300M on June 28th. She has been ridden on pace in her latest two so expect similar here and she should be close. (11) CRAZY MARI has a 2nd and a 3rd from her latest two and while she has the widest gate to contend with, she shouldn’t be far away. (10) UBERMENSCH and (2) DAEHAN COCO’S others in the mix.

Seoul Race 3: Class 6 (1400M) Special Weight A / KRW 30 Million
Small field but a tricky puzzle. (9) SECRET WOLF beat a couple of these on her way to 4th place on her first try at this distance on May 11th. She has a strong finish on her and while she has had a couple of months off, she has as good a chance as any here. (1) BLACK SMILE comes back in trip having run 4th last time out over 1700M. She has a 3rd place to her name over the 1400M and should be well in this. (7) MANGPHA overcame a wide draw to run a fair 5th at 1300M on June 22nd. In the absence of any early speed, she may well be ridden much further forward today and can be a danger. (4) P N S JU and (6) TTOSUNI SEOUL others in the frame.

Seoul Race 4: Class 5 (1400M) Handicap / KRW 45 Million
Another tricky one. (2) WHITE CARLA was a winner on debut in March and then put in two fair efforts at this class in April and May. He looked very well when wininng a trial last week and so long as he didn’t leave his race there, can win here. (8) VINCERO KING is a winner of just one of thirty starts but his recent form reads well, with his latest being a close 3rd in a tight finish at this class and distance on June 15th. A similar effort will see him right in the finish again. (1) SONGDANG HWANGTAEJA remains a maiden after seven attempts but comes in off back-to-back runner-up finishes, both at this class and distance. He can get a bit far back in his races, but if he is within striking distance in the straight, he has as good a chance as any here. (5) SOLAIRE and (3) GEUMSEONG POWER are the other main chances.

The fields may not be big, but they’re not making them easy today. (9) MALSGO got his maiden win at the ninth time of asking on June 28th, making all at this distance. He comes up in class, but is down 3.5kg in weight, and he can win again. (3) NONSTOP YEOLCHA enters off 3rd place at this class and distance on June 15th when he led for much of the way. That marked a change in tactics so expect similar here and he can be in this a long way. (7) LOVE SCARLET is up in class following two 2nd places from her latest two outings. Lightly weighted, she can measure up in this company. (1) GEOSEN POKJU and (6) SEMYEONG DIA are other place chances.

(2) MUJEHAN GEUP was a winner on debut over 1200M, coming from midfield to comprehensively score over 1200M. He comes up in class, but is down in weight, the slight step up in trip can suit, and he can maintain his 100% record. (7) SONE SONJABGO managed to win her first two outings and while she may be a cautionary tale for Mujehan Geup as she hasn’t scored in nine since, she has been consistently close. She has two 3rd places and a 4th from her latest three and in this company should be matching or bettering. (4) YEOWANG SOCKS has placed in both her latest two. She is versatile in terms of her racing style but in this company should be on pace from the start. (5) CHAMP HAMSEONG and (8) CHROMITE are the other place chances.

(7) LADY FOX returned from four months out to get her maiden win in May and has since followed up with two runner-up finishes at this class over 1400M and 1700M. She has an excellent finish on her so the slight step up again in trip can suite, and she can win here. She is fourth up this preparation so if you think she has run her race already then (1) GRATITUDE may be the one. A twenty-seven-start maiden, she has though beaten plenty of these in her latest two where she has finished 2nd and 3rd. In total she has three placings from five attempts at 1800M and it’s not impossible that today could be her day. (2) SPEED CARA was 4th behind Gratitude last time out on June 29th and should be joining her on the early speed again. (3) CHOEGANG HYEONMA and (8) FASHION STAR are others in the hunt.

(1) GRAY CANDY shapes as a warm favourite. He is yet to win in six attempts but has three 2nd places including his latest two, and most recently beat three of today’s rivals on June 22nd when handy throughout. He carries his fair share of weight here but that’s balanced by a better draw, and he can go one better. (8) ARCH DAY was a winner over 1400M on June 21st, leading all the way. He is up in class but down in weight and he can measure up, although it won’t be so easy to get to the lead. (5) GWANAKSAN TIGER was the well beaten favourite behind Gray Candy on June 22nd. The jockey did drop his crop 300M from the finish and she’s worth another chance here. (9) ANDAMIRO and (6) GLOBAL SERVE are others who can be considered.

(7) BEST RACE ran 5th in the KRA Cup Mile, the first leg of the Triple Crown, before having harder times in the Derby and Minister’s Cup. He’s had six weeks off, he comes back into shallower waters and back to one turn and a distance he has won over twice, and he can return to winning ways. (10) FUNNY TAP comes up in class following a quick win over 1300M on June 29th. He is up slightly in trip too but looks to have plenty of potential form more and he can measure up. (5) HAKSAN DARK HORSE enters off back-to-back runner-up finishes at this class and distance. He also has the fastest time among these for the 1400M and will be on top of plenty of tickets. (2) BISANG DAY and (3) GIANT BOSS, the latter up in class and looking for a fourth straight win, are others in the frame in a good race.

Seoul Race 10: Class 4 (1700M) Handicap / KRW 60 Million
(11) SMILE GOLD returned from almost ten months out to run 3rd at this class over 1400M on July 7th. Prior to the layoff she recorded two wins and a 2nd from three goes at this distance and stripping fitter for the run three weeks ago, she can win here. (6) LEGEND WOW was a winner at 1300M two starts back before coming from off the pace for 4th over 1400M on his first try at this class on June 29th. He comes up to two turns for the first time, but his running style suggests that it can suit, and under a light weight, he is a danger. (10) ECO FORE took a while to get off the mark but has won two of his last three and has been a revelation since coming up to 1700M. He is up in class today, but an apprentice keeps his carried weight nice and light and he should be competitive again. (2) SUPER BLUEMOON and (5) THEME TANSAENG among plenty of other place capables.

(6) FLYING CRUISER is yet to win in five but has placed on three occasions, including last tie out on June 28th when he beat a couple of today’s rivals on his way to 2nd place on his first try at this distance. He comes up 2.5kg in the weights but should have benefited from his first spin around two turns, and with CC staying on, he can go one better. (7) BYEOLKONG was 3rd behind Flying Cruiser in June 28th race, settling midfield and running on. That matched his best finish to date and he can be aiming to match again, or even better that here. (8) HERO JJANG ran 4th on his first try at this distance last time out and he too looks as though he is on an upward trajectory. (1) PURPLE SHINHWA and (9) MIGHTY NIC are others in line for the minors.

Since an ordinary debut, (5) SUPREME SOCKS has gone on to win three in a row, most recently at this class over 1400M on July 6th when handy throughout. He is up 3.5kg in weight as well as up to a mile for the first time, but neither should be a problem, and he can continue on his merry way here. (6) CHOEGO GAME won back-to-back races at this distance in March and April before running 2nd on his first try at this class on June 15th, overcoming a slow start to run on well. He too has his fair share of weight but looks to be the main danger. (9) STAR CHANGER has a 3rd and a 2nd from his latest two at each-way prices and can be there or thereabouts again. (8) SAHARAMOND and (4) WHIZ RUNNER others in the placing frame.

(6) SILVER RAIN returned to action after a four-month layoff in emphatic style on June 29th, leading all the way and bolting up over 1300M. He comes up in class here and back up in distance but based on that effort, neither should be a problem and he is favoured to win again. (11) LONG RUN BULPAE was 2nd in Seoul’s Classic trial but struggled in the Cup Mile and the Derby before being spared the final leg of the Triple Crown. His return to shallower waters and shorter trips saw him 4th at this class and distance on June 21st and he can build on that here. (3) ORION ALPHA was 3rd in that June 21st race, continuing his consistent run of form and he can be in the mix again. (9) MUNHAK BOY and (5) GEUMBIT GANGHO are perhaps the best of a competitive rest.

Seoul Race 14: Class 1 (1200M) Special Weight B / KRW 100 Million
This race was originally written with the local contenders for September’s International Korea Sprint in mind. Unfortunately, Vincero Cavallo hasn’t worked since the first week of the month with a back issue so that’s not happening, but we get a decent race nonetheless. (9) CROWN HAMSEONG is the pick. She won at Listed level at this distance in February and most recently was in the same position behind Vincero Cavallo in the G2 SROA Chairman’s Trophy in May. If she gets to the lead, she will be hard to pass. (3) YEONGGWANGUI WORLD has won his latest two at this class, most recently on June 14th (when there was a rating cap) when beating plenty of these at 1400M. He gets a weight drop today as well as a good gate and he seems to be improving with every run. (7) SUPER FINISH was a class and distance winner in March, beating Yeonggwangui World. He followed up with 4th in two legs of the Sprint Series and can be a danger. (8) GLOBAL BOBAE and the veteran (10) BLACK MUSK are others who can be in the finish.
