Race 1 No 1 AURORA PATCH
Now lower in the ratings, his last-start ninth was better than it looks on paper — he was used up early in a fast-run 1200m race, and that early effort took its toll in the straight.
He strikes a weaker Class 4 field this week, and with a more measured ride and a drop to 1000m, he looks capable of making amends.
Race 5 No 3 TOP THRONE
After an impressive win two starts back, he struggled last time out, finishing 14th after being pushed early to race on the speed and caught wide at the first turn. The early and mid-race exertion clearly took its toll, and he faded badly in the straight.
However, he has since trialled well and could represent value against more fancied rivals this week.
Sectional Stars
Race 3 No 2 LO PAN SPIRIT
Despite recording the fastest final 400m sectional last start, he could only manage eighth from a wide draw in a slowly run race that favoured frontrunners. A return to Sha Tin should suit him better, having placed in his two previous runs there, making him an intriguing runner to follow.
Race 8 No 10 BUNDLE AWARD
He outperformed his rating in an Open G1 feature under Set Weights conditions last start, charging home strongly to finish fifth. The switch back to a handicap race sees him much better treated at the weights this week, and he shapes as a strong contender.
