Legal Counsel should give good advice

KwaZulu-Natal’s thoroughbred breeders have endured tough times, but increased stakes and export opportunities offer renewed optimism. Sunday’s KZN Breeders Race Day at Hollywoodbets Greyville celebrates these efforts, with ten races exclusively for KZN-bred runners, headlined by the R650,000 KZN Breeders Mile.

Justin Snaith sends out the progressive Legal Counsel, who, despite a wide draw, is well-weighted and proven on polytrack. Cherry Ano, trained by Wendy Whitehead, was just over three lengths off Gr1 winner Dave The King last time and is competitive in blinkers. Dantonfromsandton, trained by KZN loyalist Sean Tarry, won on this day last year and has the form to feature again. African Skyline also has solid credentials.

In the PA opener, Cassandra ran a promising debut behind Dark Matter and makes her poly debut against males. Queen Of The Air returns after a break and could improve over the shorter trip.

Race 4, the Pick 6 opener, features Fortress Of Fire, who drops in class after two below-par runs. Master Silvano and War Talk have shown potential and are capable of improving.

Window To My Soul (Race 5) was just beaten on poly debut and looks a smart bet. Tee Dog and Possible Bomber could also be in the mix.

Hat’s Queen stands out in Race 6 as possibly the day’s best bet. Well drawn and well in at the weights, she should take beating. Queen Amina is the main danger.

Race 7 is open, with Agrado, Disting, Silver Tudor, and Proud Master all viable contenders.

In the last leg, Willow Express drops in class and could finally score after several attempts in the KZN Breeders Mile. Actor, Radu, and Joshua Hotsnake offer solid opposition.

Snaith’s Among The Clouds can end the day on a high. She won convincingly last time and will have to fend off Miss Paget, who is well drawn and in form.
