Multiple premierships winning trainer Richard Lines saddled a winning double last weekend and it appears likely the good run can continue in the form of former Australian galloper KIM EMPEROR, which is engaged in the 1400m Open Novice (Race 5). The four-year-old was coming off an impressive trial win prior to his local debut where punters rallied behind the gelding which was sent out a RM6 favorite. Scoring in dominant fashion by 3.75 lengths, he never looked to be danger from the outset and looks capable of winning in the higher grades. ENTICING has improved with race experience and delivered his maiden success in April defeating subsequent winner, Infinity Victory before finishing runner up in a Class 4 contest on May 17. The Simon Dunderdale runner should provide stiff opposition on the freshen up while ACHILLES PEGASUS will appreciate the class drop after finishing unplaced in the 3YO Sprint Championship earlier this month when resuming.
Talented sprinter SUPER SALUTE has had a chequered career due to niggling injuries but has returned to peak form posting three wins from his past four starts and will head the weights in the 1400 Supreme A contest (Race 5). Lowering the colours of smart performers Pacific Victory and Pacific Vampire last month, the six year old may have lost some of that early speed Singapore punters were accustomed to when based in Kranji. However, on the upside he seems to relax more in his races and if anything, the change to his racing pattern has definitely worked in his favour as his Malaysian record speaks for itself. It is impossible to ignore the perfect second up record for former Penang Sprint Trophy winner, BERRY BLISS which looks a huge chance of returning to winning form. With a second up record of five wins from five runs, the Charles Leck trained six year old was unlucky when resuming on May 17 with the jockey having to take evasive action before losing momentum to avoid a fallen horse. BIG UNION is threatening to win a race in Malaysia and will get his opportunity with 54kg less the claim for apprentice M Akmazani. The four year old won five from eleven in Singapore but has been racing well in the high grades locally. He is only a moderate beginner but he was noticed making late ground to finish 5th in the 4YO Sprint Championship last Sunday and on the quick backup, he cannot be left out of calculations.
ELITE PRINCE and YES MAN finished 1st and 3rd respectively in the 3YO Sprint Championship recently and are set to provide an enthralling clash in the 1200m Class 4A contest (Race 7). After failing to show up on his local debut back in April, ELITE PRINCE immediately atoned with successive 1200m victories, culminating in his listed feature win here three weeks ago when leading throughout. The Richard Lim trained performer draws deep but is a speedy beginner and drew gate eleven when leading throughout last start.
YES MAN is building an attractive resume also with three wins from seven runs and is ideally drawn in barrier two. He received every chance from pole position when 3rd to ELITE PRINCE but has picked up two races in the grade this season and is a winning chance again. SO WE FIGHT enjoyed a lucrative campaign when last in work picking up three wins, all at Class 4 level is worth considering first up from a two and a half month break.
