RACE BY RACE PREVIEWS: TURFFONTEIN STANDSIDE@2025.06.15

Turffontein Standside, 15.06.2025, Race 1, Gallops, 1160m, Turf, R120.000, 11:40GMT+2

Race Summary: Last-start winners FAIR PROPOSAL, VERSACE ONTHETRACK and LET’S GO LOLA all benefitted from an introductory outing and should remain competitive with further improvement expected. The latter is 3kg worse off with ANCHORAGE who wouldn’t be winning out of turn having finished 2nd in both starts. Debut scorer VICTORY IN ORLEANS is open to any amount of improvement so isn’t taken lightly either. Watch the betting on the newcomers.

Selections: #5 Anchorage, #2 Let’s Go Lola, #3 Versace Onthetrack, #1 Fair Proposal

Turffontein Standside, 15.06.2025, Race 2, Gallops, 1160m, Turf, R130.000, 12:15GMT+2

Race Summary: GOT THE FEELING outran market expectations when a 66-1 winner on debut, whereas fellow first-up scorer JAN VAN GOYEN was well-backed to make a winning introduction. Both would have benefited from that experience and should improve for it but the highly regarded latter could hardly have been more impressive, and it may pay to follow his progress. SHADOWFOX will know more about it after an eye-catching fast-finishing 2nd on debut over track and trip so could pose a threat. NYAKA NYAKA and newcomer TRUST are also respected.

Selections: #2 Jan Van Goyen, #5 Shadowfax, #1 Got The Feeling, #7 Trust

Turffontein Standside, 15.06.2025, Race 3, Gallops, 1400m, Turf, R105.000, 12:50GMT+2

Race Summary: JOHNNY DRAMA and CHIEFTAIN’S SHIELD have the form and experience to play leading roles but are vulnerable to less-exposed younger rival RADIO STAR who was only touched off on debut over track and trip and needn’t improve much with that experience to count on. GREENLIGHT RACER, SILVER LONGSWORD and newcomer UNDERDOG complete the shortlist.

Selections: #10 Radio Star, #2 Chieftain’s Shield, #7 Silver Longsword, #6 Greenlight Racer

Turffontein Standside, 15.06.2025, Race 4, Gallops, 1400m, Turf, R95.000, 13:25GMT+2

Race Summary: GREEN STREET and SHAMOON will likely play leading roles in a race that won’t take much winning. But younger rivals DAISY JONES (drawn wide) and JAPANESE GARDEN have more scope to improve so could dominate the outcome. SCHIPOLE, BLOOD OF EDEN and returning HOLLYWOOD MADAM appeal most of the remainder.

Selections: #12 Japanese Garden, #1 Green Street, #11 Daisy Jones, #10 Blood Of Eden

Turffontein Standside, 15.06.2025, Race 5, Gallops, 2000m, Turf, R95.000, 14:00GMT+2

Race Summary: LAVA LAMP and MATTIAZO finished 2nd in their most recent outings over 1600m and won’t need to improve much over this extended trip to fight out the finish. Younger rival HOPSCOTCH also filled the runners-up berth last time over 1450m and will likely be competitive if confirming that progress over this distance. However, preference is for well-bred fellow youngster INTO DANCING who got going late to finish 3rd over 1600m last time and should have more to offer going 2000m for the first time.

Selections: #9 Into Dancing, #1 Lava Lamp, #2 Mattiazo, #8 Hopscotch

Turffontein Standside, 15.06.2025, Race 6, Gallops, 2000m, Turf, R105.000, 14:35GMT+2

Race Summary: SANTIAGO’S PRIDE and HEROIC ACT are hard-knockers with the form and experience to acquit themselves competitively. The former finished 2.50 lengths ahead of his familiar foe over 1800m last month and should confirm his superiority. FUTURE KING, stablemate FOLLOW THE MASTER and ENFLAME all have scope to improve over this extended trip so could make their presence felt, though it may could pay to take a chance on MIZZEN SWORD improving over this distance which, on pedigree, should be within his compass.

Selections: #2 Mizzen Sword, #1 Santiago’s Pride, #9 Enflame, #3 Heroic Act

Turffontein Standside, 15.06.2025, Race 7, Gallops, 1160m, Turf, R135.000, 15:10GMT+2

Race Summary: Many with chances in a wide-open sprint contest, though none appeal more than versatile GUY GIBSON who was a fast-finishing 2nd over slightly further in KZN recently. Last-start winners BOB’S YOUR UNCLE and HALBERDIER remain competitive under their resultant penalties. NIGHT BOMBER, PASSAGE OF POWER, TSAR BOMBA, WARM WINTER NITE and unexposed BANFF, on his reapperance after a gelding operation, all have the means to acquit themselves competitively. JURY’S OUT and ACROSS THE POND are others to note after their respective absences.

Selections: #2 Guy Gibson, #4 Bob’s Your Uncle, #5 Night Bomber, #6 Passage Of Power

Turffontein Standside, 15.06.2025, Race 8, Gallops, 1600m, Turf, R140.000, 15:45GMT+2

Race Summary: CLAW won a similar contest, albeit at a slightly lower level, over track and trip last month and a resultant 3-point penalty may not be enough to prevent the progressive 3yo from following up. ZUZAN, QUEEN OF LOVE, COMMAND PILOT and PRESLEY had excuses for disappointing last starts but remain competitive at this level off their current marks. Consistent PRESSONREGARDLESS, improving ARTIST’S MODEL and rating-dropper THE AFRICA HOUSE also have the means to make their presence felt.

Selections: #9 Claw, #6 Artist’s Model, #10 Pressonregardless, #3 Zuzan

Turffontein Standside, 15.06.2025, Race 9, Gallops, 1600m, Turf, R105.000, 16:20GMT+2

Race Summary: PALACE DANCER knows not how to run a bad race and lines up with another winning chance. She is 1kg better off with last-start conqueror MOUNTAIN HIGH so even in her first attempt over this extended trip, is weighted to turn the tables. Last-start winner ACCEPT COOKIES scored after a break from a wide draw last month and is good value to follow up under a 4-point penalty. TOO LATE MY MATE isn’t underestimated off a reduced mark while FUTURE DATE has also shown enough to be competitive, especially with an encouraging comeback run under her belt.

Selections: #8 Accept Cookies, #2 Palace Dancer, #6 Mountain High, #3 Too Late My Mate

Best Win: #2 JAN VAN GOYEN

Best Value Bet: #2 GUY GIBSON

Best Longshot: #2 GUY GIBSON
