The 1100m Mitavite Asia Cup (Race 4) will headline the seven-race program at Perak Turf Club on Sunday where ROCKET BOY will head the ratings and weights in the semi feature and looks well handicapped to continue his winning ways.
With two wins from three starts in the country, ROCKET BOY is rated nine points higher than his nearest rival and the son of Capitalist should go close again despite drawing the outside gate in the fourteen horse lineup.
With 53kg to carry, FAST AND FEARLESS has belied his 44 rating with two encouraging performances at this level recently and could prove to be the main danger. Runner up to stable mate Salaam Namastey here two weeks back, the eight-year-old finished 3rd (3.5L) behind ROCKET BOY at his start prior on April 24 and is a definite chance for the exotics.
TOP CONFIDENCE has struck a purple patch with successive victories on this track at the past two meetings. Leading throughout on both occasions, it was a far cry from his first three starts in Malaysia where he struggled on his home turf in Selangor. The five year old appears hat trick bound with a chance to pick up another Class 5 contest in the 1400 Victory Treadmills Australia Stake (Race 5). PENANG STAR can be hard to follow at times but is on the verge of returning to winning form coming off two minor placings since scoring over this track and distance in early March. A BEAUTIFUL MIND was able to dictate the pace when leading throughout over the mile a fortnight ago and will go close again.
The two down graders heading the weights in the 1200m Equine Nutrition Australasia Stakes (Race 6) look to be the principal chances against a couple of last start winners. CRAZY LOVE will find this contest much easier compared to his 4th against Cosmo C opposition last start and is a winner at this track back in March. BIONICS has won three from six on the Ipoh circuit and is expected to show vast improvement on recent form. MODRIC and CAVANA are coming off Class 5 wins here at the last meeting and are worthy opponents.
