Seoul Race 1: Class 6 (1200M) Special Weight A / KRW 30 Million

Seven fillies and one gelding in the opening maiden and we’ll take a chance on the debut-maker. (1) CHRYSOL POSH looked competent enough when running 4th in her trial in a fair time at the end of March. She draws the inside gate and competent enough could be good enough to prevail here. (5) GLORY QUEEN has a 3rd and a 5th among her four outings to date with the former coming two starts back at this distance. Moon Se-young climbs on for the first time and that will probably make her the betting favourite.  (6) RAON THE CAVIAR was an improved 3rd, albeit in a very slow race over this distance last time out and can be there or thereabouts again. (4) ROAD TO SPEAR and (2) DUSON EUTTEUM the others who will be in the market.

Selections

Seoul Race 2: Class 6 (1400M) Special Weight A / KRW 30 Million

(7) SWEET SONG has been on the right trajectory across her three starts to date, most recently a 4th place at this distance on April 13th when she led for much of the way. She can lead again here and can potentially go all the way. (6) PURGE RUBY beat a couple of these on her way to best to date 2nd place on April 20th. It was a slow time, and she was a long way behind the winner, but she won’t need to improve very much to go one better here.  (2) SEUNGNI BAROWS has, like Sweet Song, shown improvement over three outings most recently an on pace 5th when clocking the fastest time among these for the 1400M. Maia stays on and she can go close again. (1) STEP BY STEP and (4) SECRET WOLF are others in the frame.

Seoul Race 3: Class 6 (1300M) Special Weight A / KRW 30 Million

Fillies only in this maiden. (3) GYEOUL JANGMI has made good progress over three starts so far, most recently when 2nd on her first try at this distance on March 15th. She comes in fresh after eight weeks off, Moon Se-young stays on, and she is favoured to go one better here. (1) CHARMING QUEEN raced handy for 2nd place over this distance on debut on April 20th. She should have come on for that run and with some natural improvement can be a danger from a good draw. (6) RAON SILENCE was a well beaten 2nd at this distance on March 30th. She raced on pace that day and should do so again with every chance of being involved for a long way. (9) INDIAN TAPIT and (7) BULGUKSIDAE are the other main chances.

Busan Race 1: Class 6 (1400M) Special Weight A / KRW 30 Million

After an indifferent debut, (7) GEUMA PANTHER was a close 2nd when stepped up to this trip at start two on April 11th, settling midfield and running on. Third-up he can be peaking, and he will be hot favourite to go one better here. (5) BABYLON FOX was much improved when beating three of these on his way to 3rd place at this distance in a different race on April 11th. He was ridden on pace for the first time that day and with similar tactics can be close again. (8) HOUND POKER was 4th in that race, one of three top five finishes he has from six attempts, and he can be aiming to find the places here. (4) DREAMMA and (1) UNJU CHEONHA others in the minor money frame.

Seoul Race 4: Class 5 (1300M) Handicap / KRW 45 Million

(1) GOLD QUEENS was a winner on debut and has been working back towards another in her three goes at this class, most recently when 2nd at 1200M on April 5th. She comes up 2.5kg in weight but draws well and the slight step up in trip can suit. (2) SAEROUN GUY enters off 3rd place over 1200M at this class on April 12th. He is yet to win but on that form can be a player here. (10) SEMYEONG STRONG is up in class having won a quick race at this distance on a wet track on April 6th. He has the challenge of a wider draw this time, but he can measure up in this company. (3) VIVA CHEONGSU and (4) CHRYSOL NIKE, the latter up in class following back-to-back 2nd places in her first two starts, are others to consider.

Busan Race 2: Class 6 (1200M) Special Weight A / KRW 30 Million

Fillies only in this maiden. (7) PURE MARINE may only have a best of 4th from four starts so far but she comes in fresh following thirteen weeks off and, more to the point, was a close 2nd in a quick trial on April 26th. If she brings that form to the races, she will be able to see off this limited set of rivals. (9) HANEULPYEONGJEONG loves finishing 4th, having done so on five occasions from eleven starts including each of her latest four. She also has a 2nd place on her resume and that’s enough to have her in the numbers here. (5) WORLD TRIPLE CAT hinted at figuring things out when an improved 5th ahead of a couple of today’s rivals on April 4th and can aim for better here. (10) OWNER CHAMP and (3) SEOGWI CHOWON other placing chances.

Seoul Race 5: Class 5 (1700M) Handicap / KRW 45 Million

(2) WORLD JOY got his maiden win at 1300M in March before running 3rd on his first try at this class over 1800M on April 12th, racing handy throughout. He is nicely drawn here for Lim Da-bin to pick his spot, and he looks the one to beat. (9) ECO FORE has excelled since being sent up to this distance with a 2nd and last time out a win over it. That brings him up in class but the same apprentice who won on him keeps his weight low, and he can measure up. (3) SUPER BLUEMOON was a winner at this class and distance on April 20th at big odds. He is up 3.5kg in weight and has been a bit all or nothing so far but warrants consideration. (8) SPLENDID comes out of the KRA Cup Mile and should find this a more amenable assignment, while (1) LUCKY FAMOUS is another in the hunt.

Selections

Busan Race 3: Class 6 (1300M) Special Weight A / KRW 30 Million

A weak maiden but (2) SEOBU DANCING has probably offered the most so far. He only has a best of 4th place, achieved two starts back at 1200M but ran on fairly enough for 5th last time out from a wide draw over this trip. Franco stays on and he won’t need to improve very much to win this. (8) COME ON GLORY comes in off an improved 4th over 1400M on March 28th when settling right back. With not much speed in this race, she should be much further forward today and can be a threat. (7) ILLUSION was further back in that race but does have a 4th place on her record and in this company looks a place chance. (5) MORE AND MORE is second up following a lengthy layoff and can be much better than last time. (3) BAEKPAL BOEUN another in line for the minors.

Seoul Race 6: Class 4 (1800M) Handicap / KRW 60 Million

(6) PURGE KING was a winner at this class and distance on April 20th coming from a handy position to sweep home late. That was just his third win in twenty-three starts but it had been coming and while he is up 3.5kg in weight, he can win again. If, however, he peaked in that race, then (8) MUSKET DAY may be the one. He didn’t peak in last month’s HKJC Trophy over this distance with 6th of nine behind Final K and Eclipse The King but he comes back into much more amenable company today and can be a danger. (3) MAX WEEK has won his latest two at 1800M and most recently at 1700M at this class. He comes up 3kg in weight but that’s balanced by a good gate, and he can lead. (7) STORM GUY and (2) SUPER ECTON other minor chances.

(9) RAON THE MASKE was a winner on debut and has since run 3rd and 4th in two starts at this level, both at 1400M and most recently beating a couple of today’s rivals on Paril 13th. In this company he can be expected to race on pace, and he may take some beating. (2) ARION TAEYANG has run only fairly in his latest two, but he comes back to a trip at which he has a win and a 3rd place from two tries and should be much better. (7) SEOBU FLAME is another who has won over 1400M. He returned from an almost seven-month absence on April 18th and while he ran down the field that day, he should strip fitter for that run and be better here. (3) SHANGHAI THUNDER and (6) HERO J others to consider, the latter returning for the first time in precisely a year having won an April trial.

Selections

(9) Raon The Maske (2) Arion Taeyang (7) Seobu Flame (3) Shanghai Thunder

Seoul Race 7: Class Open (1800M) Special Weight A / Korean Derby (KOR G1) / KRW 1 Billion

The second leg of the Triple Crown and KRA Cup Mile winner (13) OASIS BLUE will be the favourite to score again. A two-time winner already at this distance up to class 4 level, he won comfortably both Busan’s Classic Trial and the Cup Mile. He does draw a touch wider than ideal, but he showed in the Cup Mile that he doesn’t need to lead. (3) ECLIPSE THE KING didn’t run in the Cup Mile but won four races in a row up to class 4 and 1800M leading all the way. His streak came to an end behind the very good Final K in a valuable Trophy race on April 14th at this distance and drawn beautifully to lead, Oasis Blue will have to work to get past him. (12) YONGBI PAEWANG and (14) MY DREAM DAY came home 3rd and 2nd respectively and both may appreciate the step up in trip today. Stablemate of the favourite (4) OASIS RED enters off a smart on pace win at this distance at class 4 level at the end of February and isn’t to be dismissed.

Busan Race 5: Class 4 (1600M) Handicap / KRW 60 Million

(10) WORLD WINNERS MAN has won back-to-back races at this distance in February and March, most recently at this class on March 30th when settling midfield and running on well. He comes up a full 4.5kg in the weights, but he can win again. (5) MR.WOLF looks the clear second choice. He could only finish midfield from a wide draw over 1400M on his first try at this class last month but was a strong winner at 1300M the time before that and from a better draw the step up to a mile can suit. (1) HAMAN BONGHWASAN enters off a 3rd place at this class and distance on April 6th. He likes to come from well off the pace and can be in the mix again. (7) SEONGSIL CHEONHA and (4) INDIE BULPAE perhaps the best of the rest.

(10) SCALE KING got his sole win at this distance just before Christmas at class 5 level and has since registered two 4th places and a 2nd in three tries at this class. He has a strong finish on him so the wide draw shouldn’t be too much of a problem and with Moon Se-young up for the first time, he can win. (1) CHEONGUNG STORM is up in class following an all the way win over this distance on April 5th. Despite the class rise he comes up in weight but that’s balanced by a draw that should allow him an easy run to the front again and he can go back-to-back. (4) GLORY AND HONOR beat Scale King on his way to 2nd place at this class and distance on April 5th, while (6) MISS CONCORD came home 5th in the same race. Both can be in the mix again. (5) NAOL DAEWANG another place chance.

Busan Race 6: Class 3 (1800M) Handicap / KRW 75 Million

(5) GEUMA GUTTY was a winner over this distance at class 4 level two starts back before running 2nd over the same trip in a very quick time (on a day the track was very fast) in a big trophy race last month. He carries his fair share of weight here but on those two efforts, he is hard to oppose. (10) WONDERFUL BIDDER has won two of his latest three. Both at a mile and both times settling behind the speed and running on. He comes up in class and in distance but is down 3kg in weight, and he can measure up. (6) GASOK JEIL beat three of these when coming from off the pace to run a very close 2nd at class and distance on April 4th and under the same light weight can be a danger again. (9) DEMON SPY and (4) GRAY BOSS are the other chances.

Seoul Race 9: Class 4 (1200M) Handicap / KRW 60 Million

(2) GRAY CANDY has hinted at ability across four starts so far with his best being a 2nd place at this distance n January when leading for much of the way around. Kozzi gets on this time, they draw very well to lead, and they can go all the way. That will require overturning the form on (7) GWANAKSAN TIGER who was 5th to Gray Candy’s 6th when they faced one another at this class and distance on April 19th. That was Gwanaksan Tiger’s first start since she was a two-year-old in December 2023 and she should strip fitter this time. (1) KAN BE GREAT was an improved 4th at start number two on March 22nd at this distance. He comes down in weight and third up he can be peaking. (6) BREEDO SIRIS and solitary debut maker (11) SHINING ROAD, who ran 2nd in a fair time in his trial, are others to consider for the minors.

(6) WONDERFUL JET is a three-time winner, most recently at this distance at class 4 level in January. Since then, he has finished 4th and 3rd in two outings at this class, the latest at 1800M when leading before weakening a little late on. Back in trip, he should be on pace, and this time go all the way. The danger is (3) GUKDAE FIGHTER. He was a class and distance winner two starts back and was then 3rd on his latest in February. He comes in either fresh/lacking match fitness (take your pick) after thirteen weeks off, but an apprentice claims 2kg to take the edge off the weight and he is a chance. (9) KONGNAMUL came from well off the pace to run 3rd at this class over 1200M on April 13th and could be ready for another crack at 1400M. (7) DREAM HONOUR and (11) MAGIC STRONG others in the frame.

(3) DRONE KILLER enters off a smart 4th in a trophy race over this distance last month having previously placed at this class and distance in March. He gets in under a very light weight, he draws well, Moon is on, and there is plenty to like. (8) SHADOW HUNTER was a winner over 1400M at class 4 level in March and then beat several of today’s rivals on his way to a very close 2nd in a quick race at this class and distance on April 5th. Conditions may be similar today with a wet track likely and while he is up 1.5kg in weight, he has every chance of going one better. (5) EAST JUMP had a hard time in the Listed Donga Ilbo for fillies and mares in March but then ran 2nd to Blue Lemon in another tough filly race at 1800M on April 13th, leading from gate to wire. That was at level weights so today’s handicap should suit better, and she has won at a mile before. (2) SAENAE TOWN and (1) WONDERFUL KITTY others to consider in a competitive finale.
