HOLLYWOODBETS SCOTTSVILLE, 20.03.2024, Race 1, Gallops, 1200m, Turf, R120,000, 12:30GMT+2
Race Summary: Summary: Many first timers so the usual advice is to keep an eye on the market. Of those that have run SOHO STAR (9) started at long odds over course and distance for Yogas Govender and nearly caused a major boil-over finishing a narrow second. With the added experience a repeat of that effort should see him close again. FAMOUS WARRIOR (3) found strong market support on debut but obviously ran well below expectations. He will most certainly improve on that showing. CARE FORGOT (5) takes on males but was well beaten on her debut behind the smart Almond Sea on the Highveld. She has been rested but should come on from that effort. KOMANDANTE (1) raced green on debut when not fancied but should do better this time around. First timer comments from their trainers suggest that both CATS PAJAMAS (7) and NEW FRONTIER (100 are expected to make an impression.
Selections:
#9 SOHO STAR, #3 FAMOUS WARRIOR, #5 CARE FORGOT, #1 KOMANDANTE
HOLLYWOODBETS SCOTTSVILLE, 20.03.2024, Race 2, Gallops, 1200m, Turf, R120,000, 13:05GMT+2
Race Summary: Summary: Mike Miller holds a strong hand with MR NIBBLES (5) and stable rider Tristan Godden likely on the ‘right’ one. He improved nicely second time out and should be cherry-ripe for this race. THE SPECIALIST (7) was very green on debut and did find some market support on debut. MJ Odendaal has Richard Fourie aboard so one can expect some decent improvement. ACT OF GENIUS (9) is another from the Miller stable. He has shown ability but has been rested and may need this outing. GOOD LIVING (3) caught the eye on debut and is another that should improve with the experience.
Selections:
#5 MISTER NIBBLES, #7 THE SPECIALIST, #9 ACT OF GENIUS, #3 GOOD LIVING
HOLLYWOODBETS SCOTTSVILLE, 20.03.2024, Race 3, Gallops, 1200m, Turf, R120,000, 13:40GMT+2
Race Summary: Summary: THE MIKADO (2) raced green on debut but came from way back to run second. The extra furlong should suit Frank Robinson’s colt who pushed the favourite all the way to the line. HAVANA MOON (1) is another from the strong Mike Miller yard and came on nicely second time out. He has the benefit of experience and must have a strong chance. DAPPER (4) raced green in a smart debut over course and distance and should come on with the experience. SAMUEL LONGSWORD (3) improved last run in the soft and can run into the money.
Selections:
#2 THE MIKADO, #4 DAPPER, #1 HAVANA MOON, #3 SAMUEL LONGSWORD
HOLLYWOODBETS SCOTTSVILLE, 20.03.2024, Race 4, Gallops, 1200m, Turf, R100,000, 14:20GMT+2
Race Summary: Summary: STAR OF THE FUTURE (7) returns from a break but showed up well on debut for Frank Robinson who’s stable is starting to come to hand. AVRO PRINCE (2) started at long odds at his second start but was not beaten far. Garth Puller looks to have him in a good space and he should feature in this field. TERIYAKI (1) has been improving slowly and has a place chance again. PLETTENBERG (6) looks to be the best of the Michael Roberts runners and can do better over this trip.
Selections:
#7 STAR OF THE FUTURE, #2 NOBLE WARRIOR, #1 TERIYAKI, #6 PLETTENBERG
HOLLYWOODBETS SCOTTSVILLE, 20.03.2024, Race 5, Gallops, 1600m, Turf, R100,000, 14:55GMT+2
Race Summary: Summary: DYNASTY’S LAST (4) has been a late starter but made marked improvement at her second outing when sent over a mile. Louise Goosen has engaged Richard Fourie and she can make the required improvement. TOMYRIS (9) has gone close at her last two over this course for Gareth van Zyl who appears to have picked the right race. The extra furlong should suit and although she has drawn widest of all, there are only nine runners in the race. GORGEOUS GIRL (6) looks held by Tomyris on their last run but Tony Rivalland has added cheek pieces would could make the difference. SUNSHINE SALLY (8) raced green on her sprint debut and steps up to a mile. She is one to watch in the market.
Selections:
#4 DYNASTY’S LAST, #9 TOMYRIS, #8 SUNSHINE SALLY, #6 GORGEOUS GIRL
HOLLYWOODBETS SCOTTSVILLE, 20.03.2024, Race 6, Gallops, 1600m, Turf, R100,000, 15:30GMT+2
Race Summary: Summary: Competitive handicap. Take a chance or go big in your exotic bets. ICE SUNSATION (1) has been knocking on the door for some time now and looks nicely weighted. Andre Nel’s mare has also drawn pole over a course that she knows well. LUCKY MISS (3) seldom runs a bad race and goes well over course and distance. She should be right there again for Duncan Howells. Dark horse is GRANDI ORECCHIE (4). She has been off the course since August last year but Gareth van Zyl has pitched her in over a mile and she is clearly smart. Watch the market here. FORESHORE (2) has been disappointing of late but can never be written off as a no-hoper. LADY HEIST (7) faces a number of old rivals but is 2.5kg worse off with Ice Sunsation and has a tricky draw to overcome.
Selections:
#1 ICE SUNSATION, #4 GRANDI ORECCHIE, #3 LUCKY MISS, #7 LADY HEIST
HOLLYWOODBETS SCOTTSVILLE, 20.03.2024, Race 7, Gallops, 1950m, Turf, R100,000, 16:05GMT+2
Race Summary: Summary: A wide open handicap. PINSTRIPE (5) took on way stronger last run from a testing draw and is down in class. She has a big weight but apprentice James Lihaba takes 1.5kg off her back and she can get home for Duncan Howells. THEAPPLEOFMYEYE (1) may just have found her last run a touch out of her compass. Richard Fourie stays with the ride over two furlong shorter. ELEGANT ACT (7) is a recent maiden winner but had consistent form before that. She could follow up in this company. FREE WILL (4) comes from the in form Gary Rich stable and drops a further two pounds in the handicap. With a light weight she can make it into the money.
Selections:
#5 PINSTRIPE, #1 THEAPPLEOFMYEYE, #7 ELEGANT ACT, #4 FREE WILL
HOLLYWOODBETS SCOTTSVILLE, 20.03.2024, Race 8, Gallops, 1200m, Turf, R100,000, 16:40GMT+2
Race Summary: Summary: Former Gr1 winner LOVE BOMB (8) is struggling for her fifth win but it has not been for the lack of trying. Frank Robinson switches her to the turf after a string of poly track runs and she came from a long way back to finish a close-up third last time out. The blinkers go on and the extra furlong will be in her favour. CONVOCATION (6) took on stronger last time out but she did have a 4kg claimer aboard and a light weight. That was her first run back after a lay-off which is not always ideal. AISLING (3) ran a shocker under Richard Fourie last time out and he has jumped ship. However, Paul Gadsby’s mare is way better than that showing and can surprise. GET IN THE Q (7) has a big weight but goes well over course and distance and should put in another good shift.
Selections:
#8 LOVE BOMB, #6 CONVOCATION, #3 AISLING, #7 GET IN THE Q
Best Win: #1 ICE SUNSATION
Best Value Bet: #5 PINSTRIPE
Best Longshot: #3 AISLING
