Trainer Simon Dunderdale’s promising youngster MILITARY FLAG continued his winning way with another convincing victory at Selangor on Sunday.
The New Zealand-bred son of U S Navy Flag made his debut last November in an Open Maiden event. Although finishing second in that race, his latent potential became evident a month later, securing a commanding victory by 5.25 lengths in a similar event.
Continuing his impressive streak, MILITARY FLAG triumphed once more for the Falcon Racing No.7 Stable in an Open Novice race at Sungai Besi on Sunday.
Under the guidance of jockey Jose De Souza, MILITARY FLAG began fast, settling into second position just outside the leader BLACK PRINCE.
Despite the challenging wet conditions, MILITARY FLAG showcased his potential, steadily pulling away from BLACK PRINCE in the final 200 meters, clinching victory by a convincing 1.5 lengths.
“Nice strong win today,” said Dunderdale. “Looking forward to a promising future with MILITARY FLAG.”
“He (MILITARY FLAG) jumped well and we had a good cover and settled well outside the leader,” said De Souza. “In the straight when asked for an effort, he responded well. Very promising horse.”
