Hong Kong racing continues on Sunday (26 November) for a 10-race turf and dirt fixture at Sha Tin.

Connections of SUPER SUNNY SING will be hoping the progressive five-year-old can bounce back off a last-start failure when he returns in the Class 1 Chevalier Cup Handicap over 1600m.

SUPER SUNNY SING is fourth-up this week and was last seen finishing a visually disappointing sixth in the Group 3 Ladies’ Purse Handicap over 1800m as the heavily backed $1.8 favourite. However, it was a run where plenty went wrong: after an awkward jump, SUPER SUNNY SING, positioned at the rear, raced wide and without cover in the middle stages. Additionally, the race tempo was stop-start, favouring those positioned on-pace and out of trouble.

The race has proven to be a strong form indicator, with runner-up CHAMPION DRAGON and fourth-place finisher STRAIGHT ARRON both winning last weekend. MONEY CATCHER and TOURBILLON DIAMOND, finishing fifth and eighth, respectively, also secured placings. This bodes well for SUPER SUNNY SING to rebound on Sunday, especially as he drops back to the mile, which, as time goes on, appears to be his best distance. Reuniting with top jockey Vincent Ho is also key to the gelding’s chances.
