After his female counterparts Michelle Rix and Candice Bass-Robinson shared six winners on last Tuesday’s nine-race card, Justin Snaith ought to hit back with several winners of his own at the next Cape Town meeting. He sends 17 runners to Hollywoodbets Kenilworth for Wednesday’s (19 April) nine-race card and his runners in five of the contests are good value to land the spoils in their respective races.
Of the stable’s three runners in Race 1, it should pay to follow Speeding Bullet who has experience on his side. He was beaten 2.75 lengths over 1000m in yielding conditions around the bend at Hollywoodbets Durbanville last time out but is 2kg better off with the winner that day, Blue Holly, and will appreciate a return to the straight course, so is fancied to settle the score with JP van der Merwe in the irons.
Stablemates Rapidash and Get Impressed are well-bred colts who are certainly worth a market check on debut. Swinger and Exacta bets including this Snaith-trained trio could prove a profitable play in the opener over 1100m.
Richard Fourie resumes his partnership aboard promising two-year-old filly Golden Sickle in Race 2 over the same distance. This daughter of Vercingetorix has confirmed the promise of her debut win over 1000m with first-four finishes in both of her subsequent feature-race appearances. Given that experience and the strength of her form, Golden Sickle ought to bounce back to winning ways.
Snaith has a strong hand in Race 3 over 1800m, with Bye Bye Bombshell the pick of his coupling. Fourie’s mount has a bit to find on both Fleeting and Academic Gold after finishing behind that pair in a recent meeting over 1600m, but Snaith’s charge was returning from a break on that occasion and would’ve tightened up for the run, so is an attractive betting proposition on better weight terms.
Twice Over filly Fallo Ancora lines up in a competitive Open Maiden over 1600m in Race 7 which should provide eachway value to TAB bettors. The return to Kenilworth from a favourable No 2 draw with 57,5kg to shoulder and Fourie back aboard makes her an attractive betting proposition too. Her rivals Mothership, Sunlit From Heaven, Anna Karenina and On Board are Trifecta and Quartet inclusions.
Snaith has five of the nine runners in Race 8 over 2000m with the winner likely to come from one of Royal Watch, Night Ruler and Cosmic Event, who ran in the Grade 1 Cape Derby over the course and distance in his last start. Boxed Exactas with this trio is the way to play.
For Win bet purposes, though, it could pay to follow the progress of Van der Merwe’s mount Royal Watch in his bid to complete a hat-trick of wins.
