Lucinda Woodruff is in good company as one of only three lady trainers in the fiercely competitive Western Cape – along with Michelle Rix and Candice Bass-Robinson.
Since taking over the reins from her dad, former multiple trainer Geoff, she has done well with a relatively small string, saddling five winners and boasting a place percentage of 57%.
And she’s likely to add to that win column at Durbanville on Tuesday 29 March with consistent Twice Over gelding The Second Wave, who should represent generous Eachway value when he lines up in Race 8 over 1600m.
He finished a game third from a wide draw over 1400m on his return from more than three months out in his last start and with improved fitness on his side and a favourable No 3 draw, The Second Wave should make a bold winning bid under Greg Cheyne over 1600m – the distance over which he has registered three of his wins.
Another likely to be rewarded for their consistency on the card is Justin Snaith-trained La Folie Douce in Race 5 over 1250m. She made a winning debut in August but has gone six subsequent starts without a win.
However, after two seconds and two fourths, as well as a close-up third last time out, this Silvano filly should double her tally.
