Race Preview

Race 1 – PRIX DE FORMENTIN –  1600m CLM. Purse EUR €24,000.

  1. SONGSTER – Finished just 1.4 lengths away in fourth last start over 1400m at Toulouse. Has ability and is among the leading hopes.
  2. LINGOTTO – Won his maiden two back at Pornichet then could only manage fifth last start over 1300m at Deauville All Weather. Has ability and deserves another chance.
  3. MANDEGA – Has two wins and eight places from 18 career starts. Last start finished sixth at Deauville All Weather beaten 8 lengths. Looks suited here and can sneak into the minors.
  4. IKIRU – Made little impression on debut over 1200m Deauville when fourth beaten 13 lengths. Others look better prospects.
  5. CORIA – Yet to break through in two runs but has been thereabouts. Last start was 4 lengths back in fourth over 1800m at Longchamp. Ready to open her account.
  6. NOSHOWLIKEAJOESHOW – Last appeared when he finished third over 1500m at Deauville All Weather on November 5. Genuine hope on best form.
  7. SKADI – Was below par two back at Bordeaux then bounced back with a win over 1600m at Toulouse last time out. Don’t underestimate.
  8. MARY GRACE – Unraced filly by Myboycharlie out of Pennines. Happy to risk this time.

Summary: SONGSTER (1) looks up to delivering a victory following a 1.25L fourth over 1400m at Toulouse. MANDEGA (3) recorded an 8.5L sixth in a 1500m claiming contest at Deauville AW. Rates a big threat on earlier form. CORIA (5) has registered fourth place finishes on both previous starts including when beaten 3.75L over 1800m at Longchamp. Shortlist. SKADI (7) won by 0.5L in a 1600m claimer at Toulouse. Consider for the win.

Race 2 – PRIX DE LA BOUCLE D’EN HAUT –  2700m MDN. Purse EUR €22,000.

  1. SKIRTOWE – Returns after a break of nine weeks. Closed last campaign in lukewarm fashion with a sixth over 2500m at Evreux the latest offering. Plenty of more attractive propositions in this race.
  2. BLUE STYLE – Was safely held on debut last start when sixth and beaten 32 lengths over 2500m at Le Croise-Laroche. Needs to lift.
  3. THE PREACHER MAN – Did little on debut when beaten 9 lengths into ninth over 1950m at Le Mans. Doubt he will trouble these.
  4. KOSAKENZIPFEL – Overdue for a maiden success having placed at all three career runs the latest when second over 2500m at Le Croise-Laroche. Going well and gets chance to break through.
  5. ALYA – Ran below expectations when eighth and beaten 31 lengths over 2900m at Durtal. Will take a lot from that hitout.
  6. SPEEDY ANGEL – Was well in the market on debut at her only appearance four months ago over 2400m at Clairefontaine but could only manage fourth beaten 7 lengths. Steps out over more ground this time. Can do better.
  7. AHA – Drops in distance from the latest outing when second over 2900m at Clairefontaine finishing 1.3 lengths off the winner. Must be respected.
  8. KILIA – Finished midfield at her first start last time out over 2200m at Le Pin Du Haras 5.5 lengths from the winner in sixth. Has ability and can be included.
  9. SAINTE MARIE – First-up here. Has ability on her day but would prefer to see how she has returned. Others offer more appeal.

Summary: KOSAKENZIPFEL (4) delivered a 4L second when contesting a 2500m maiden at Le Croise-Laroche. Selected to break his maiden racing second up this spell. SAINTE MARIE (9) registered a 6L second in a 2800m handicap at Dortmund (Germany). Rates a big threat on French debut. AHA (7) came home 1.25L second in a 2900m maiden at Clairefontaine. Bold show looks likely. SPEEDY ANGEL (6) is another to consider following a 7.25L fourth in a 2400m newcomers event at Clairefontaine.

Race 3 – PRIX DU BOIS DE LA TUILERIE –  1900m CLM CL3. Purse EUR €19,000.

  1. FAZZANO – Well held over 1800m at this track last start finishing 12th and beaten 7 lengths. Prepared to overlook.
  2. SANPEDRO – Has a poor strike and failed to improve on it last start when he finished ninth over 1400m at Saint-Cloud. Not keen.
  3. BAILEYS BELLE STAR – Not a prolific winner with just two victories from 25 starts. Last start finished seventh over 1800m at Lyon-la-Soie. Well placed this time and could improve.
  4. MENILLES – Has had two runs since a break the latest a ninth over 1600m at Bordeaux beaten 6 lengths. Untried over this journey but is very fit. Rates highly and can play a major role.
  5. CIRCO MASSIMO – Form since resuming has been disappointing last start finishing 15th over 2500m at Deauville All Weather. Struggling to make a case.
  6. JOYCE GALESTE – Easily beaten at her last run before spelling and didn’t fare any better when resuming over 1800m at Fontainebleau two-and-a-half weeks ago beaten 15 lengths into eighth. Outclassed.
  7. OBDURATE – Easy winner last time by 2.5 lengths over 1650m at Amiens. Suited here.
  8. OSUMI – Was well supported at Niort last start and has shown little of late to suggest he can play a major role in this affair and would prefer to see.
  9. VICTOR LAZZLO – Finished third over 2000m at Nancy two back then missed the frame last time out over 1800m at Lyon-la-Soie. Better suited.
  10. ANODIKOVA – In the money two starts back at Lyon-la-Soie but couldn’t back that up when unplaced over 2400m at Lyon-la-Soie last time. Capable of sharp improvement.
  11. BAILEYS SOLAIRE – Has had one run back from a break and was well held in ninth over 2150m at Lyon-la-Soie two-and-a-half weeks ago. Fitter but hard to see her featuring.
  12. LOVE THE STARS – Hasn’t threatened in two runs back from a spell. Finished 46 lengths from the winner when tenth last time out over 2400m at Compiegne. Others appeal more.
  13. AVENUE OF DREAMS – Has not been racing well lately the latest effort a eighth and beaten 6 lengths over 1800m at this track. Needs to do a lot more.
  14. LADY MILLION – Offered little last start when friendless in betting over 1800m at this track. Not among the chances.
  15. JANISA BERE – Has been out of the money of late including last time out when sixth over 1800m at this track nine days ago beaten 4 lengths. Capable of sharp improvement.

Summary: MENILLES (4) is selected to record a victory dropped to a claimer following a 6L ninth in a 1600m handicap at Bordeaux. OBDURATE (7) won by 2.5L in a 1650m conditions event at Amiens. Bold show looks likely. CIRCO MASSIMO (5) is a threat down in grade following a 10L fifteenth in a 2500m handicap at Deauville AW. ANODIKOVA (10) placed second when beaten 0.5L in a 2150m claimer at Lyon-la-Soie on her penultimate start. Shortlist.

Race 4 – PRIX DES PITONS –  2100m HCP CL4. Purse EUR €12,000.

  1. FIONA – In the placings six times from 27 starts but has just the one win to her name. Last start finished eighth over 2150m at Lyon-la-Soie beaten 6 lengths. Well placed to improve.
  2. ABORIGENE – Didn’t inspire again last start beaten 4.5 lengths over 2500m at Saint-Cloud. Well placed and can do much better.
  3. BAIRA – Made it three unplaced runs from three starts this campaign when ninth over 2500m at Deauville All Weather two-and-a-half weeks ago. Sure to be thereabouts.
  4. HACKLE SETTER – Handy stayer who has been plain of late including last start when well held over 2150m at Lyon-la-Soie. Finds a suitable contest this time so expect improvement.
  5. IT’S ON US – Finished 14th last start over 1600m at this track. No form of note.
  6. GALLARDISE – Four-year-old filly who punters have shunned in recent times and she’s been running accordingly. Can’t have on recent performances.
  7. MEJAEN – Last start finished seventh over 2400m at Lyon-la-Soie beaten 8 lengths. Can find the frame with the right run.
  8. MALECON – Has been out of the money recently including last time out when 13th over 1650m at Amiens a week-and-a-half ago beaten 11 lengths. Better suited here.
  9. WISEITEN – Has not raced since finishing 6 lengths away in sixth over 2200m at Amiens on June 8. Each way.
  10. NAOMIE – Stepping up in trip after finishing sixth over 1800m at Nort-sur-Erdre last time out. Outside claims.
  11. ARVINNI – Last appeared six months ago when she finished 17 lengths from the winner in 14th over 2000m at Saint-Cloud. Unlikely to threaten.
  12. PAPA WINNER – Hasn’t been competitive lately last start finishing a 16 length 16th over 1900m at Deauville All Weather. Safely held again.
  13. NEVER WITHOUT YOU – Eight-year-old gelding who drops in journey from the latest effort when fourth over 2500m at Deauville All Weather finishing 3.5 lengths off the winner. Strong top-three chance.
  14. TINALIK SUN – Well beaten at each of her starts to date. Was not a factor last start at Deauville All Weather when sixth over 2500m.
  15. SIEGFRIED LINE – Finding it hard to break through finishing sixth last time out over 2200m at Amiens. Some claims at odds.
  16. ELIOT DU PARADIS – He has been easily accounted for at each of his nine career starts. Was not a factor last start at Deauville All Weather when seventh over 2500m. Hard to have.

Summary: MALECON (8) delivered a 2.5L fourth over 2500m at Saint-Cloud on his penultimate start. Changed tactics when below par subsequently. Selected to record a second AW win. NEVER WITHOUT YOU (13) rates a threat on the back of a 3.25L fourth over 2500m at Deauville AW. MEJAEN (7) is well handicapped on his old form. Warrants consideration on the back of an 8.25L seventh over 2400m at Lyon-la-Soie. SIEGFRIED LINE (15) recorded a 9.5L sixth over 2200m at Amiens. Noted in this field.

Race 5 – PRIX DES MONTICULES –  2100m HCP CL4. Purse EUR €14,000.

  1. SALERNO – Has been out of the placings in recent runs. Last start finished 6 lengths from the winner in fourth over 2400m at Dieppe. Not the roughest.
  2. RONCHEROLLES – Has been well held since winning three starts back. Finished tenth beaten 15 lengths over 1900m at Deauville All Weather last time.
  3. MORAL GAGNANT – Returned to the winners’ circle after a long while in the wilderness last time out over 1900m at Deauville All Weather scoring by half a length. Good chance.
  4. TORNALDO – Hasn’t raced since finishing fifth over 2400m at Lyon-Parilly nine weeks ago. Should give a great sight.
  5. MINNEHAHA – Handy stayer who has been plain of late including last start when well held over 2900m at Amiens.
  6. CREAM ICE – Last appeared when she finished second over 1900m at Cholet on November 5. Genuine hope on latest effort.
  7. LAVINIA ROSE – Hasn’t done much in recent times the latest effort a ninth over 1800m at Le Croise-Laroche beaten 15 lengths. Looks tested in this field.
  8. TOP GLORY – Made nice progress last time out when fourth over 2100m at Pornichet. Among the chances on his best form.
  9. RIP – Finding it hard to break through this time in the latest when third over 2000m at Marseille Vivaux. Thereabouts last time and is one of the main chances.
  10. LINSOUMIS – In the money two starts back at Lyon-Parilly but couldn’t back that up when unplaced over 2150m at Lyon-la-Soie last time. Sure to be thereabouts.
  11. PEYTON PLACE – Returned from a spell and was easily accounted for when 15th over 2100m at Pornichet. Still early in the prep and might need more time.
  12. ARMORIGENE – Now 272 days without a win the latest effort a 14th over 2000m at Saint-Cloud beaten 12 lengths. Happy to overlook.
  13. DEER BERE – Veteran gelding who has been well held at the last couple starts the latest when beaten 14 lengths into ninth over 2000m at Marseille Vivaux.
  14. SHINASI – Resumes from a break of four months. Finished eighth at his most recent appearance over 2100m at Le Touquet. Will need this hitout.
  15. LANDARYNA – Finished rearwards last time out at Dieppe over 2400m. Will need to improve many lengths to feature.
  16. THE PREACHER – Finished second two back then could only manage seventh last time over 1900m at Deauville All Weather beaten 4 lengths. Worth another chance.

Summary: MORAL GAGNANT (3) won by 0.5L in a 1900m handicap at Deauville AW. Selected to follow up. TORNALDO (4) came home 3L fifth in a handicap over 2400m at Lyon-Parilly. Capable of challenging for the win. RIP (9) enters calculations on the back of a 4.75L third in a 2000m handicap at Marseille-Vivaux. CREAM ICE (6) placed second when beaten 2L over 1900m at Cholet. Race 6 – PRIX DE L’ORME –  1900m MDN. Purse EUR €20,000.

  1. QUARTZ ROSE – Debuted at Longchamp on October 23 and was pretty plain when beaten 12 lengths into eighth over 1800m. Can improve with that run under his belt.
  2. ROYAL POST OFFICE – Not far away two back but disappointed last time when fifth over 1800m at Longchamp. One of the chances if finds best.
  3. DUC DE KENT – Has opened his career in good style with two placings from four starts. Finished third at his most recent appearance over 1600m at this track. All set to open his account.
  4. EL CAZADOR – Opened his career in promising style two back with a placing at Longchamp. Disappointing in the follow up run two weeks ago when fifth over 2000m at Saint-Cloud. Us the debut performance as a guide. Rates highly.
  5. FRENCH ATOLL – Did little on debut when beaten 28 lengths into seventh over 1900m at Cholet. Others look better prospects.
  6. DSCHINGIS GRACE – Fair effort last start, beaten 2 lengths into second over 1800m at Lyon-la-Soie. Don’t underestimate.
  7. LADY ACE – Finished 16 lengths back in 11th on debut over 1500m at Saint-Cloud last start. Others preferred.
  8. ANNAVA – Went forward and gave a sight before tiring to finish tenth on debut over 1400m at Strasbourg ten weeks ago. Others rate better.
  9. SALT FLAKE – Pushed forward on debut last time but could only manage ninth, beaten 11 lengths, over 1650m at Craon. Tackles a longer journey this time.
  10. MISS MUIR – Was safely held on debut last start when sixth and beaten 15 lengths over 2000m at Saint-Cloud. Safely held.
  11. ALBANIA – Yet to break through in two runs but has been thereabouts. Last start was 6 lengths back in fourth over 1600m at this track. Nicely placed to open her account.
  12. DUNSBOROUGH – Unraced gelding by Cloth Of Stars out of Deitee. Was a EUR 60,000 (Arqana 2021 October Yearling Sale) purchase. Looks set to run well.
  13. VENENCIA – Recoletos filly from Sign Of Life on debut. Market watch advised.

Summary: DUC DE KENT (3) is taken to break his maiden following a 3.75L third in a 1600m maiden at this venue. Leading chance. DSCHINGIS GRACE (6) enters calculations on the back of a 2L second in an 1800m maiden at Lyon-la-Soie. ALBANIA (11) gets a chance having taken a step forward when 5.75L fourth in the previously mentioned 1600m contest here. EL CAZADOR (4) placed third over 1600m at Longchamp on debut. Claims despite a subsequent disappointing effort at Saint-Cloud.

Race 7 – PRIX DU VALOIS MULTIER –  1600m MDN. Purse EUR €22,000.

  1. E VA BIN – Has not been racing well lately, the latest effort a 12th and beaten 8 lengths over 1600m at this track. Safely held again.
  2. HAMNET – Ran a much better race last time when facing the starter for just the second time, finishing second over 1600m at Angers. Improver who can feature prominently.
  3. UTOPISTE – Resumes after a break of seven months. Nice run on debut then failed to threaten when fifth over 1600m at Lyon-Parilly at the last outing prior to a spell. Big chance with improvement likely.
  4. KOOL FIRST – Resumed at this track over 1600m last time out and finished fourth, beaten 5 lengths. Strips fitter and expected to figure prominently.
  5. CORTO MUSO – Debuted at this track on November 2 and was pretty plain when beaten 9 lengths into 11th over 1600m. Others rate better.
  6. ZENIGATA – Last appeared when he finished fifth over 1400m at Le Mans on November 14. Better than that recent ordinary performance suggests.
  7. MAGURO – Form either side of a spell has been underwhelming. Resumed last start and was beaten 126 lengths over 2500m at Le Croise-Laroche. Expect he’ll find this too tough.
  8. SICILIA – Has been out of the money in recent runs including last time out when eighth over 1600m at this track three-and-a-half weeks ago, beaten 1.5 lengths.
  9. HEAL THE WORLD – Went forward on debut last start over 1600m at this track and gave a sight but found a couple better when third beaten 4.5 lengths. Likely improver with top-three prospects.
  10. FIORE – Made her debut over 1950m at Le Mans last start and was well in the market but could only finish fifth, beaten 4.5 lengths. Should improve.
  11. SAL DE COCO – Did little on debut when beaten 6 lengths into eighth over 1600m at this track. Don’t think she will trouble this field.
  12. LOVE TREVILLE – Was beaten a fair way on debut last time out when ninth over 1950m at Le Mans. Needs more.
  13. SHINE ON ME – Yet to break through in three runs but has been thereabouts. Last start disappointing when sixth over 1600m at this track but did perform much better the start prior.
  14. ETERNAL LOVE – Last started 14 months ago when beaten 9 lengths into fifth over 1408m at Chelmsford AW (UK). Opens this campaign under the care of Henri Devin. Rates highly.

Summary: HAMNET (2) looks up to scoring on the back of a head second in a 1600m maiden at Angers. Leading contender. ETERNAL LOVE (14) registered a 9.25L fifth in a 1408m AW novice race at Chelmsford (UK) in September last year. Selected to deliver a big effort debuting for a new trainer. UTOPISTE (3) delivered a 4L fifth in a maiden over 1600m at Lyon-Parilly. Strong claims. HEAL THE WORLD (9) also makes appeal having shown ability when 4.25L third tackling 1600m at this circuit.

Race 8 – PRIX DES BUTTES –  2100m HCP CL3. Purse EUR €19,000.

  1. BLEUSKY – Has been out of the money of late including last time out when 16th over 1600m at this track three-and-a-half weeks ago, beaten 12 lengths. Can turn things around.
  2. EARLY SURPRISE – Has a poor strike rate and failed to improve on it last start when she finished 14th over 2100m at Strasbourg.
  3. SECOND TO NONE – Battled last start to finish seventh over 2200m at Lyon-Parilly, adding to a sequence of plain results. May improve sharply.
  4. SUNKAWAKAN – Stepping up in trip after finishing sixth over 1900m at Deauville AW last time. Finds a nice race this time.
  5. RIYAK – Good fourth over 1400m at Strasbourg. In the mix.
  6. ILE DU ROUME – Has been out of the money in recent runs including last time out when 11th over 2500m at Saint-Cloud four weeks ago, beaten 16 lengths. Hard to fault if at her best.
  7. SO YOU SAY – Last appeared three-and-a-half months ago when she finished 9 lengths from the winner in sixth over 2200m at Clairefontaine.
  8. RUNNING RAINDROP – Finished 12th last time out over 2000m at Saint-Cloud, beaten 25 lengths. First try on AW today. Likely to find this out of reach.
  9. SAN PABLO – Could only manage sixth over 2100m at Pornichet last start to continue a run of ordinary form. Finds the right race this time.
  10. BEAMA – Unwanted in the market when resuming last start at Le Croise-Laroche over 1800m and finished 14th. Can do much better this time with the run under her belt.
  11. MAJORETTE – Has not raced since finishing 5.5 lengths away in tenth over 2400m at Compiegne on May 9. Not ready yet.
  12. NAMAR – Won by 1.75L in a course and distance handicap on penultimate start. Looks up to putting a below par subsequent effort behind to score. Player.
  13. KONIG CHOUCHEN – Stepping up in trip after finishing fourth over 1900m at Deauville AW last time out. Can improve and is a top-three contender.
  14. MISS SPRINGSTEEN – Broke a long drought last time when she scored by 1.5 lengths at Lyon-la-Soie over 2150m. Last-start winner worth including.
  15. AYANA – Last two runs have only been moderate after winning three back at Amiens. Interesting.
  16. GOT FROST – Has been easily accounted for at long odds in his last two appearances. Not keen.

Summary: NAMAR (12) won by 1.75L in a course and distance handicap on penultimate start. Looks up to putting a below par subsequent effort behind to score. Serious player. KONIG CHOUCHEN (13) registered a 4L fourth in a 1900m handicap at Deauville AW. Shortlisted. MISS SPRINGSTEEN (14) rates a threat on the back of a 1.5L triumph in a 2150m handicap at Lyon-la-Soie.
