Race Preview

Race 1 – PRIX DES TURFISTES –  2400m CLM CL4 HCP. Purse EUR €12,000.

  1. RICHEMONT – Only managed to finish fifth over the shorter 1850m journey at Hyeres when resuming last start. Has won second up before and looks a place hope.
  2. L’INDOMPTABLE – Finished eighth last start over 2350m at Strasbourg when she had to contend with an awkward draw. Can improve and rates well.
  3. SANCHO – Last start winner over 2500m at Hyeres after recording a close third two starts back at Hyeres. Sure to prove hard to beat again.
  4. HAGAR BERE – In the money two starts back at Hyeres but couldn’t back that up when unplaced over 2500m at Hyeres last time. Expect he will make amends.
  5. SEEKING DICKENS – Stepping out at this course for the first time. Last appeared when he finished eighth over 2000m at Marseille Vivaux on October 28. Won before that and may go close.
  6. WELLINGTON ROSE – Yet to find the frame this campaign, the latest result a fourth over 1900m at Bordeaux. Fitter and generally runs well when third up.

Summary: SANCHO (3) gamely held rivals for a head victory at Hyeres tackling a similar contest. Will prove hard to beat once more. L’INDOMPTABLE (2) finished 2.5L third at Clairefontaine on reappearance. Yet to build upon that as anticipated however rates a key player amongst this field. SEEKING DICKENS (5) has won both previous outings over this distance. Threat to all. WELLINGTON ROSE (6) runs third up and could be primed down in grade. May give a bold showing.

Race 2 – PRIX DE LA POINTE ROUGE –  2400m CL2. Purse EUR €22,000.

  1. NARCOS – Ran a better race last start to finish second at Deauville AW over 2500m. Nicely placed and rates highly.
  2. ANTOLYA – Has been about the mark in small fields of late. Last start finished third at Longchamp over 1800m. Worth plenty of thought.
  3. LAOS – Stepping out at this course for the first time. Last appeared when he finished fourth over 2400m at Prunelli Di Fiumorbo on October 30. Ready to win after a solid performance last time.
  4. LIBELLO – Went for a break after a placing in a Listed race at Cagnes-sur-Mer but returned last start with a plain effort over 2000m at Saint-Cloud. Fitter but needs to turn the form around. Claims.
  5. INCOGNITO FLEURY – Stepping out at this track for the first time. Last appeared when he finished 13th over 2150m at Lyon-la-Soie on October 21. Needs more.
  6. HIPODAMO DE MILETO – Has had one run back from a break and was well held in sixth over 2400m at Toulouse two-and-a-half weeks ago. Still early in the prep and needs another run or two.
  7. STORMY POUSS – Beaten 3.5 lengths into seventh when resuming last start over 2000m in a Listed race at Marseille-Borely. Strips fitter and is among the chances.

Summary: ANTOLYA (2) looks overdue a victory having placed the past five starts. Finished 2.75L third at Longchamp in latest providing good form and will prove hard to beat here. NARCOS (1) was a good 2L second at Deauville last time. Easy to fancy following that. LIBELLO (4) struggled on reappearance. Likely needed that run however and better is expected. STORMY POUSS (7) maintains a good record with this jockey and rates a potential threat to all following a promising reappearance in a Listed race.

Race 3 – PRIX JULES MORGAN –  2000m MDN. Purse EUR €18,000.

  1. VALSAD – Started favourite despite a wide draw on debut last start over 1800m at this track and ran a good second. Leading contender.
  2. BIRCH MAN – Has been well held in all five career runs to date. Don’t see that trend changing here.
  3. SPIRIT GREY – Six-start maiden who was seventh last start, beaten 6 lengths, over 2000m at Marseille Vivaux. Best efforts give him a live chance.
  4. AIR FORCE ONE – In the money two starts back at Marseille-Borely but couldn’t back that up when unplaced over 1700m at Marseille-Borely last time. Best form stacks up nicely and deserves another chance.
  5. IDATEN – Was well in the market on debut last start but missed the placings, finishing fourth over 2000m at Durtal. The race experience will be invaluable. Solid contender.
  6. CHERALTAR – Colt by Prince Gibraltar from Cherana on debut. Can give a bold sight.
  7. MACONDO – Son of Affaire Solitaire from Mandoki making his debut. Maybe later.
  8. STRATUS – Unraced colt by Cracksman out of Vedela. Prefer to see how he performs.
  9. ZARAKEM – Colt by Zarak from Harem Mistress on debut. Interesting.

Summary: VALSAD (1) encountered one when beaten 5L second on debut here. Racing for a good yard and can only improve. Keep safe. AIR FORCE ONE (4) is both talented and consistent. Expected to go close. IDATEN (5) holds each way claims following a promising debut fourth. ZARAKEM (9) could be primed for this debut outing and is a potential threat to all.

Race 4 – PRIX FLORENCE FORNERON –  2000m MDN. Purse EUR €18,000.

  1. KOEUR FLEURY – Last appeared nine weeks ago when she finished 16 lengths from the winner in seventh over 1650m at Sable-sur-Sarthe. May place.
  2. SANTHIA – Fair effort on debut last start over 1500m at Marseille Vivaux and finished 2.5 lengths from the winner in fifth. Consider.
  3. GLOIRE DE VASSY – Has done nothing in three runs to date, the latest when beaten 9 lengths into eighth over 2000m at Lyon-Parilly. Makes very little appeal.
  4. KALORIZIKI – Finished 6 lengths back in fourth on debut over 2000m at Lyon-Parilly last start. Better for that run. Expected to be competitive.
  5. FORMIDABLE LE DUN – Not far away two back but disappointed last time when eighth over 1500m at Marseille Vivaux. Can feature if finds a bit more.
  6. TO TEN METERS – Returned from a spell and was safely held when fifth over 2000m at Marseille Vivaux. Fitter but others are better placed.
  7. LA TREILLE – Went forward on debut last start over 1800m at this track and gave a sight but found a couple better, beaten 6 lengths third. Place claims.
  8. ZAVADREAM – Ran a big race on debut when third at Marseille Vivaux over 2000m. Open to improvement and expected to go on with it.
  9. BELLES FEUILLES – Well held on debut over 1500m Tarbes when seventh, beaten 11 lengths. Can improve.
  10. GATSBYLA – The Grey Gatsby filly from Ivola on debut. Worth watching for a market push.
  11. MANON – Beaumec De Houelle filly from Griva on debut. Watch for a market push.
  12. AMELIELYMPIQUE – Debutant by Olympic Glory from the good race mare Celebre who was a Listed winner on the track. Consider.

Summary: ZAVADREAM (8) looked a smart prospect placing at Marseille Vivaux on debut. Sure to progress and could prove hard to beat. GATSBYLA (10) makes debut for a good yard. Key player. BELLES FEUILLES (9) is worth noting representing a top stable. Modest debut effort but was well supported and better is clearly anticipated. Extra distance could bring about improvement. Keep safe. LA TREILLE (7) finished 6L third here first up. Each way chance on the back of that.

Race 5 – PRIX DE PARISLONGCHAMP –  2000m CL2. Purse EUR €22,000.

  1. JOHEN – Stepping up in trip after finishing fifth over 1700m at Marseille-Borely last time out. Can improve on the latest effort and gets his chance.
  2. GRAND BALCON – Resumed from a spell last start and did well to finish third over 2300m at Tarbes. Shaping up nicely and is definitely worth including.
  3. SOUS LES ETOILES – Resumed over 2100m at Toulouse last start and finished 6 lengths away in fifth. Fitter and looks set to improve sharply.
  4. HELIOPOLIS – Promising filly who last start finished 1.3 lengths away in second over 2400m at Lyon-Parilly. Can go close.
  5. ACQUABELLA – Reasonable effort first up last start, finishing fourth and beaten 2.75 lengths over 2000m at Pau AW. Needs something easier.
  6. SCORPIO – Scored her maiden win last time when resuming from a spell over 1800m at Fontainebleau. Can feature in the finish again.
  7. SAVE YOUR BREATH – Resumes. At the latest outing she finished seventh over 2000m at Marseille-Borely on September 15. Shapes well on best form and worth following up.
  8. JOH SPIRIT – Promising type who is going for a hat-trick of wins, the latest success 1.5 lengths over 1600m at Lyon-Parilly. Top chance.

Summary: JOH SPIRIT (8) is progressing rapidly. Bids for a hat-trick and may yet prove better than this grade. The one to beat. GRAND BALCON (2) represents a good yard. Shaped well beaten 1L first up this campaign. Big chance. HELIOPOLIS (4) was denied a third consecutive victory finishing 1.5L second at Lyon-Parilly. Thriving at present though and is set to go close. SCORPIO (6) showed improved form when a head winner at Fontainebleau on reappearance. This is a better race but still rates a threat to all if progressing as anticipated.

Race 6 – PRIX D’UTAH BEACH –  1300m HCP CL2. Purse EUR €50,000.

  1. CLEVER CANDY – Beaten 2.25 lengths into fourth when resuming last start over 1300m at Chantilly All Weather. Strips fitter and among the chances.
  2. AZOV – Scored two starts back but was below his best last time when 21 lengths away in 16th over 1300m at Chantilly All Weather. Worth another chance.
  3. MUBAALEGH – Held last time out when seventh over 1200m at Deauville a month ago beaten 5.5 lengths. More needed.
  4. OZAN – Out of the money of late including last time out when eighth over 1300m at Chantilly All Weather three weeks ago beaten 3.5 lengths. Prefer to watch.
  5. MOWAEVA – Finished just 2 lengths away in fifth last start over 1500m at this track. Could place.
  6. WEJDAN – Has been out of the winner’s list for more than a year. Recent performances haven’t been up to scratch including a last-start eighth over 1200m at Toulouse. Needs to improve.
  7. SHAKE ME HANDY – Scored at Deauville two starts ago. Last time out finished a good third over 1500m at this track when one length from the winner. Major player on best form.
  8. ARABINO – Scored over 1300m at Chantilly All Weather last outing. Winning hope.
  9. DRAGONS PLEASE – Finished 2.5 lengths away in seventh over 1400m at Fontainebleau latest. Each-way claims.
  10. SCOTTISH SAINT – Last start finished 7 lengths from the winner in sixth over 1600m at Saint-Cloud. Place claims.
  11. SHOWMAN – Scored over 1300m at Chantilly All Weather two back. Below par latest but could bounce back.
  12. TROBREIZH – Last appeared when he finished 11th over 1300m at Chantilly All Weather on November 2. Others preferred.
  13. SASSY RASCAL – Finished fifth last time out over 1300m at Chantilly All Weather. Place looks best.
  14. SENSE OF BELONGING – Scored last outing over 1400m at Niort. Can go well.
  15. VITARE – Kicked off this campaign with a fourth over 1400m at Chantilly All Weather. In the mix.
  16. SIRIUS SLEW – Last-start fifth over 1300m at Chantilly All Weather. Difficult to recommend.

Summary: SENSE OF BELONGING (14) won by a short-head a 1400m conditions event at Niort first up. Taken to score back in a handicap for a yard going well at present. SHAKE ME HANDY (7) rates a big threat having finished third in a 1500m claiming contest here. ARABINO (8) delivered a 0.75L success in a 1300m handicap at Chantilly AW. Could prove dangerous. CLEVER CANDY (1) is considered on the back of a 2.25L fourth over 1300m at Chantilly AW. VITARE (15) can place.

Race 7 – PRIX DE L’ASSOCIATION DES ELEVEURS DU SUD-EST –  2000m HCP CL4. Purse EUR €14,000.

  1. GIVE ‘EM THE SLIP – Out-of-form filly who has been well beaten in both runs back from a spell. Looks to be making up the numbers again.
  2. LES ALDUDES – Disappointing tenth a month ago over 2000m at Saint-Cloud. Key chance on best form.
  3. TRUST ON HIM – Has been out of the placings in recent runs. Last start finished 26 lengths from the winner in 15th over 2000m at Marseille-Borely. Must improve sharply.
  4. KADNIKOV – Has been out of the money of late including last time out when fifth over 2150m at Lyon-la-Soie two weeks ago, beaten 4 lengths. Will be harder to beat this time.
  5. MOUTRAKI – Disappointed last start when a modest seventh, beaten 6 lengths, over 2000m at Marseille-Borely. Goes well here with two wins and two placings from six starts. Winning claims.
  6. DREAM OF EMERAUDE – Has not raced since finishing 5 lengths away in fifth over 1800m at Le Croise-Laroche on May 22.
  7. LADY ARKADINA – Handy stayer who has been plain of late including last start when well held over 2150m at Lyon-la-Soie. Rates well this time so expect a lot more.
  8. ALFIERI – Was below his best last time, finishing 11th and beaten 9 lengths over 2150m at Lyon-la-Soie. This no easier and others rate better.
  9. LILY APPLE – Has been out of the money recently including last time out when 13th over 1700m at Marseille-Borely nine days ago, beaten 13 lengths. Tested again.
  10. IL VINCITORE – Stepping up in trip after finishing sixth over 1700m at Marseille-Borely last time out. Can improve on the latest effort and is a key runner.
  11. CREMETO – Stepping out at this track for the first time. Last appeared when he finished seventh over 2150m at Lyon-la-Soie on November 8.

Summary: KADNIKOV (4) won a stronger race at Lyon-la-Soie three starts ago. Rates highly amongst this field and likely to prove hard to beat. LES ALDUDES (2) disappointed in latest. Running 1.5L third at Marseille Borely before that reads well however and having won two of three starts at this track is easy to fancy. MOUTRAKI (5) has managed to win and place on previous outings for this jockey. Expect a bold showing. IL VINCITORE (10) could improve for the extra distance and is considered each way.

  2. KOREM – Safely held on debut when seventh beaten 22 lengths over 1400m at Bordeaux. Opposed.
  3. RANCON ROYALE – Held seventh over 1300m at Chantilly All Weather six-and-a-half weeks ago. More needed.
  4. TCHORO – Turned in a better effort last time to finish third over 1400m at Niort. Leading contender.
  5. GREGGY – Finished second over 1400m at Dieppe on July 8. Should give a bold sight.
  6. TWINKLEHOOFS – Finished third on her most recent appearance over 1300m at Chantilly All Weather. Thereabouts.
  7. QUEEN OF NAVARRE – Returned from a break last start and finished tenth over 1400m at Niort. Fitter but needs more.
  8. MASHAAER – Went close last time when second over 1408m at Chelmsford (UK). Frustrating sort but rates highly on best form.
  9. KAMALA – Well held in 13th over 1500m at this track five weeks ago. Opposed.
  10. GREEN SEA – Good third on debut at Clairefontaine over 1600m five months ago. Chance.

Summary: MASHAAER (8) is taken to deliver a victory following a nose second in a 1408m at Chelmsford (UK). Leading hope. GREEN SEA (10) performed well when 4L third in a 1600m newcomers event on debut. Key chance in a first-time hood. GREGGY (5) enters calculations having finished 3L second attempting a 1400m maiden at Dieppe. TCHORO (4) placed third in a maiden over 1400m at Niort. Consider making AW debut.

Race 9 – PRIX DENIS BENSUSSAN –  2000m HCP CL3. Purse EUR €18,000.

  1. PICNIC ROYAL – Stepping out at this track for the first time. Last appeared when he finished second over 2000m at Saint-Cloud on October 31. Rates highly.
  2. MISS BELIEVE – Finished midfield last start at Lyon-Parilly over 1600m, 1.2 lengths from the winner. Tackles a longer journey this time. Might struggle again.
  3. MAZELTOF – Resumed from a spell last start and did well to finish third over 2000m at Marseille-Borely. Shaping up nicely and can measure up in this line up.
  4. BY THE WAY – Has been out of the money recently including last time out when fourth over 1900m at Deauville AW two-and-a-half weeks ago, beaten 2.5 lengths. Great chance to atone.
  5. NOT SO SILLY – Has been plain of late including last start when well held over 1900m at Deauville AW. Needs more.
  6. MIRAGE REVE – Moderate effort to finish sixth last time over 1700m at Marseille-Borely when first up from a spell. Jumps up in journey today. Will need to do a bit more.
  7. SA TUNA – Eight-year-old mare who drops in distance from the last start when second over 2600m at Marseille Vivaux, finishing 1.5 lengths off the winner. Strong top-three chance.
  8. BENI KHIAR – Has been about the mark of late including a last start third over 1700m at Marseille-Borely. Has ability and holds claims.
  9. MAD WHIP – Won two starts ago then back to earth last time when fourth over 1700m at Marseille-Borely. Disappointing last time but can do better.
  10. LE PARRAIN – Has been plain of late including last start when well held over 2150m at Lyon-la-Soie. Happy to overlook.
  11. LORLISALSA – Comfortably held last start over 1600m at Lyon-Parilly. Looks tested again.
  12. SAYANN – Finished 9 lengths back when a disappointing ninth last time over 2000m at Toulouse. Worth another chance.

Summary: MAZELTOF (3) holds an honest overall record. Finished 2.25L third at Marseille Borely first up and can only improve upon that. Leading contender if doing so. SA TUNA (7) managed second on two of the past three starts. Winning chance. BY THE WAY (4) does find it difficult to win however is performing consistently in stronger races and looks to go close once more. BENI KHIAR (8) was beaten 2L third at Marseille Borely. Each way claims.

  1. PROSPERO – Last start finished 13th over 1400m at Strasbourg beaten 37 lengths. Looking to others.
  2. EXCALIBUR – Last start was beaten 20 lengths into 14th over 1400m at Fontainebleau. Opposed.
  3. GOLD SHIVA – Good second over 1300m at Chantilly All Weather. Among the chances on his best form.
  4. DANCING MASTER – Nice return last start when third at Angouleme over 1000m on November 1. Fitter and worth following up.
  5. BONUSDARGENT – Last appeared three-and-a-half months ago when he finished 3.5 lengths from the winner in sixth over 1300m at this track. More needed.
  6. GHAYADH – Held when seventh beaten 6 lengths over 1400m at Le Mans. Others preferred.
  7. TREMONT – Last start finished ninth over 1400m at Compiegne. More required.
  8. LOVE AFFAIR – Held when tenth over 2400m at Saint Brieuc. Best watched.
  9. KING OF THE LIONS – Last start finished fourth over 1300m at Chantilly All Weather. Expected to run well.
  10. LILLY BIRD – Held 14th over 1300m at Chantilly All Weather latest. Others hold stronger claims.
  11. MUBARMAJ – Tailed off over 1600m at Chantilly All Weather latest. Looks tested again.
  12. LA MIRANDE – Finding it hard to break through finishing 13th last time out over 1600m at Chantilly All Weather. Cannot enthuse.
  13. VALENTO – Finished seventh beaten 9 lengths,last start over 1400m at Compiegne. Place looks best.
  14. LATE COMER – Finished fourth over 1650m at Amiens when 2.25 lengths off the winner. Worth following up.
  15. SIR MAURICE – Stepping up in trip after finishing fifth over 1100m at Le Croise-Laroche last time out. Involved.
  16. SORRENZA – Out of the money in recent runs including last time out when eighth over 1600m at Chantilly All Weather three-and-a-half weeks ago. Place looks best.

Summary: With Maxime Guyon up GOLD SHIVA (3) looks capable of going one better than when a close second over 1300m at Chantilly AW. LATE COMER (14) finished 2.25L fourth in a 1650m handicap at Amiens. Could prove dangerous switching to the AW. SIR MAURICE (15) enters calculations following a 3L fifth in a  Le Croise-Laroche 1100m handicap. KING OF THE LIONS (9) is another to consider having been beaten 3L fourth attempting a 1300m handicap at Chantilly AW.

Race 11 – PRIX GERARD SAMOUN –  2400m HCP. Purse EUR €18,000.

  1. ROYAL MONARCH – Last seen when finishing eighth over 2400m at Clairefontaine. Deserves another chance.
  2. HAPPY HARRY – Has been very ordinary since winning at Deauville four starts back. Beaten 11 lengths when 12th over 2400m at Clairefontaine last start. Prepared to overlook.
  3. SUPER QUARTZ – Fair fifth over 2400m at Lyon-Parilly. Has ability and is one of the chances.
  4. ASPEN – Had been racing very well but was below his best last time when 10 lengths back in sixth over 2000m at Marseille-Borely. Rates highly and is worth including.
  5. FORCE TRANQUILLE – Not firing at all recently, the latest effort a 24 length ninth over 1700m at Marseille-Borely on October 24. Fully tested in this line up.
  6. ISOTTA – Finished second over 3000m at Toulouse two back then missed the frame last time out over 2900m at Clairefontaine. Might struggle again.
  7. VIRTUS – Good effort last start to win his maiden over 2400m at Lyon-la-Soie by a nose. Can go close.
  8. SOUTHWEST HARBOR – Stepping out at this circuit for the first time. Last appeared when she scored over 2700m at Chantilly AW on November 2. Rates highly and expected to go well again.
  9. MAQUIGNON – Scored a rare win over 2200m at Longchamp. Has ability and is one of the chances.

Summary: MAQUIGNON (9) powered clear for a 3.5L success at Longchamp. Impressed that day and this looks no tougher. Could prove hard to beat. SOUTHWEST HARBOR (8) is thriving at present and comes here following two wins from the past three starts. Won by a head at Chantilly in latest and may give another bold showing. VIRTUS (7) shed the maiden tag on just the fourth career outing. Progressing and can aim toward better contests. Keep safe. ROYAL MONARCH (1) finished mid-field tackling a competitive race in latest. This looks easier and rates a solid each way option.

Race 12 – PRIX HERNANDO –  1500m CL2. Purse EUR €34,000.

  1. GREY TORNADO – Made it two wins from three last start when he scored at this track over 1500m. Leading hope.
  2. CAMBRONNE – Two-year-old colt who has been racing consistently this campaign. Good third in Listed company at Marseille-Borely latest. Player.
  3. GRECIAN STAR – Resumes today. Last appeared at Deauville over 1400m when seventh four-and-a-half months ago. Not written off.
  4. MAJOR OAK – Won on debut by one length over 1400m at Pau All Weather. Better for that experience and is worth following up.
  5. ALCANOR – 0.8 length second on his latest appearance at this track over 1500m. Each-way contender.
  6. SUNDAY FUDGE – Lightly raced filly who was beaten 2 lengths into third last start over 1300m at this track. This tougher but holds place claims.
  7. BURMESE RUBY – Scored over 1500m at Saint-Cloud on July 16. Rates highly and expected to run well for a top yard.

Summary: GREY TORNADO (1) completed a double winning by a neck over course and distance. Looks up to registering a third consecutive victory. BURMESE RUBY (7) rates a big danger following a head success in a 1500m maiden during the summer. Interesting for top connections. CAMBRONNE (2) faded late when a 6L third in the 1700m Listed Prix Delahante at Marseille-Borely. Shortlist. MAJOR OAK (4) debuted with a win in a 1400m maiden at Pau. Worth noting.
