Champion jockey Vlad Duric will be shooting for a piece of Kranji racing history on Sunday afternoon when he is legged aboard exciting four-year-old galloper INFERNO in the $400,000 G1 Lion City Cup (1200m).
In twenty runnings of the great sprint at Kranji racecourse, four jockeys have won the race two times: Barend Vorster (2007 & 2011), Robbie Fradd (2009 & 2010), Alan Munro (2014 & 2015) and Vlad Duric (2016 & 2019).
Duric collected his victories on the Cliff Brown-trained ZAC SPIRIT in 2016 and the Shane Baertschiger-trained ARAMCO in 2019. Victory this week on INFERNO will elevate Duric to rare air as the only three-time winner of the Lion City Cup in modern day Kranji racing history.
