RACE BY RACE PREVIEWS: KENILWORTH@2020.02.15

Kenilworth, 15.02.2020, Race 1, Gallops, 1000m, Turf, R70.000, 13:00GMT+2

Race Summary: HELLO TOMORROW was only outrun late into 2nd by a male rival over the course and distance last time but could go one better with a repeat of that effort back against her own sex. ON CAPTAIN’S SIDE has taken time to come to hand but will pose a threat if building on recent improvement. ASHANTI could have a say on the evidence of her debut. Watch betting on newcomer SAKURA TRICK

Selections:

#2 Hello Tomorrow, #1 On Captain’s Side, #5 Ashanti, #7 Sakura Trick

Kenilworth, 15.02.2020, Race 2, Gallops, 1400m, Turf, R70.000, 13:35GMT+2

Race Summary: Not a strong maiden and DIVA’S EXPRESS is unlikely to get a better chance to win. She has shown promise in each of her three starts and has more scope than most, so should take some beating if improving over the extra. A MOMENT APART could pose the biggest threat on current form, while likely improver SUNSHINE BEACH is another who could make her presence felt going this trip.

Selections:

#1 Diva’s Express, #2 A Moment Apart, #7 Sunshine Beach, #5 Snowdrops

Kenilworth, 15.02.2020, Race 3, Gallops, 1400m, Turf, R70.000, 14:10GMT+2

Race Summary: Competitive maiden. THE SECOND WAVE is due a maiden win after three 2nds and is open to improvement after gelding, so preferred to RED ROCK CANYON. The latter has gone close in both starts over this trip with blinkers fitted and with the headgear retained should be involved again. Both MORSE and MR FERGIE are closely matched with those rivals and capable of posing a threat.

Selections:

#1 The Second Wave, #5 Red Rock Canyon, #2 Morse, #4 Mr Fergie

Kenilworth, 15.02.2020, Race 4, Gallops, 2500m, Turf, R70.000, 14:45GMT+2

Race Summary: LONG REIGN finished ahead of IN AURO on similar terms over this trip two starts back and there is unlikely to be much separating the pair again. The latter could turn the tables, though, without blinkers fitted and Marcus retained for the ride. ABRAHAM LINCOLN is closely matched with the former and open to improvement after gelding, so can get a look in. SLEW PER COOL can earn.

Selections:

#2 In Auro, #1 Long Reign, #3 Abraham Lincoln, #4 Slew Per Cool

Kenilworth, 15.02.2020, Race 5, Gallops, 2500m, Turf, R80.000, 15:20GMT+2

Race Summary: Familiar foes MIRACULOUSLY OURS and AT THE OFFICE have found their niche over staying trips and are likely to be competitive in this after a recent meeting. TROOP THE COLOUR and WINTER SHADOW are distance suited so unlikely to be far off the mark either. However, this sterner test of stamina will suit unexposed 3yo OVER THE ODDS who is preferred. Watch MERCURANA and VFORVICTORY

Selections:

#4 Over The Odds, #2 Miraculously Ours, #7 At The Office, #9 Troop The Colour

Kenilworth, 15.02.2020, Race 6, Gallops, 1000m, Turf, R85.000, 15:55GMT+2

Race Summary: Progressive GOLDEN TRACTOR makes obvious appeal after back-to-back wins and a 2nd in his last start over this course and distance, but is worth opposing under a big weight against these hard-knockers. SKIDOO was touched off by that rival three starts back but is now 10,5kg better off! Hat-trick seeking APOLLO ACE and stable companion should acquit themselves competitively.

Selections:

#5 Skidoo, #1 Golden Tractor, #2 Apollo Ace, #3 Dragon Power

Kenilworth, 15.02.2020, Race 7, Gallops, 1100m, Turf, R80.000, 16:30GMT+2

Race Summary: HILDEGARDE can do no wrong at the moment so worth backing to follow up a recent win. Stablemates VARSITY LOVER and COUSIN LIZ have yet to hit the heights once promised, albeit in stronger company. Both have scope to improve and could reaffirm at this level. The latter has been disappointing in her last two starts since returning from a rest, which also applies to DARK CRYSTAL

Selections:

#3 Hildegarde, #2 Cousin Liz, #4 Lana Belle, #1 Varsity Lover

Kenilworth, 15.02.2020, Race 8, Gallops, 1100m, Turf, R65.000, 17:05GMT+2

Race Summary: Good race. MY WICKED WAYS was only outrun late in a stronger race against male rivals over the course and distance on LQP day and a repeat of that effort back in her own sex should be good enough to play a prominent role. Well-related LILAC SENSATION is maturing and with improvement can be competitiveon handicap debut. Consistent CARIBBEAN SUNSET will make her presence felt.

Selections:

#3 My Wicked Ways, #2 Lilac Sensation, #1 Caribbean Sunset, #4 Croisette

Best Win: #1 DIVA’S EXPRESS

Best Value Bet:

Best Longshot: #5 SKIDOO
