Singapore Champion Sprinter retired

Singapore Champion Sprinter Aramco has been retired.

Trainer Shane Baertschiger’s top sprinter ARAMCO won’t be seen on the Kranji racecourse again after the recently crowned 2019 Champion Sprinter was retired due to injury.

ARAMCO failed to overcome a niggling issue after his last start in July last year. The seven-year-old retires a 10-time winner, including handing Baertschiger his first Group 1 success as a trainer in his own right by winning the $800,000 Lion City Cup (1200m) last May, while earning connections over the $1.1mil mark from 22 starts.

Meanwhile, Baertschiger celebrated claiming the 2019 Horse of the Year award with I’M INCREDIBLE. The son of Lope De Vega won five races on end last year, including the last three at Group level. It began with the Group 3 Committee’s Prize (1600m), followed by the Group 3 Ultima El Dorado Classic (2000m) and the second Leg of the Singapore Triple Crown series, the Group 1 Queen Elizabeth II Cup (1800m) in October.
