RACE BY RACE PREVIEWS: KENILWORTH@2020.01.18

Kenilworth, 18.01.2020, Race 1, Gallops, 1000m, Turf, R75.000, 13:00GMT+2

Race Summary: Competitive opener. PRAY FOR RAIN was well backed on debut and ran accordingly, showing pace throughout before only tiring late. The form of that race has been franked so, with improvement expected, he should go close in this. Filly MUSICAL GLITCH has also shown promise and could give cheek with a sex allowance and 1,5kg claimer to aid her cause. Watch the betting on BOWIE.

Selections:

#6 Pray For Rain, #9 Musical Glitch, #1 Bowie, #4 Lord Marmite

Kenilworth, 18.01.2020, Race 2, Gallops, 1400m, Turf, R70.000, 13:35GMT+2

Race Summary: MR FERGIE finished ahead of RED ROCK CANYON in 2 previous meetings before the latter turned the tables over the course and distance last time out when fitted with blinkers (retained). Both should be involved again but PACIFIC RIM may have their measure. He has made good improvement after gelding and should go close in his peak outing. FORGED IN FLAME has a place chance.

Selections:

#2 Pacific Rim, #3 Red Rock Canyon, #4 Mr Fergie, #5 Forged In Flame

Kenilworth, 18.01.2020, Race 3, Gallops, 1600m, Turf, R70.000, 14:10GMT+2

Race Summary: Good race. VOICE OF REASON confirmed the promise of her debut when touched off over track and trip last time. She will have more to offer so should confirm superiority over STILL TAPPIN, FOXY LADY and NORTHWEST PASSAGE. The latter’s stable companion MOUNTAIN RIDGE (stable elect) could improve going this trip. WHAT A FLIRT (excuses last time) and O SOLE MIO warrant respect too.

Selections:

#11 Voice Of Reason, #3 What A Flirt, #4 Still Tappin, #5 Foxy Lady

Kenilworth, 18.01.2020, Race 4, Gallops, 2000m, Turf, R55.000, 14:50GMT+2

Race Summary: IN AURO concedes weight to all in this Maiden Handicap but does boast, arguably, the strongest form on offer. He will enjoy a return to this trip and could prove too good with the blinkers removed and Marcus retained for the ride. Stablemates DOUBLE CROWN and NAUGHTY BOY have the form to pose a threat, though the same could be said of HOLY WARRIOR, NIGHT SONG and HOPE AND PRAY

Selections:

#1 In Auro, #2 Double Crown, #6 Naughty Boy, #3 Holy Warrior

Kenilworth, 18.01.2020, Race 5, Gallops, 1800m, Turf, R65.000, 15:25GMT+2

Race Summary: Well-bred AZORES was gelded after his last-start win and is open to any amount of improvement, so is worth following. CAPTAIN TURK is weighted to get closer to that rival on these terms, as is WINTER IS OVER on their meeting inthe maidens. ANDERSON and VFORVICTORY could also show more after gelding. BROTHER LOUIS has held his form at this level and could get a look in too.

Selections:

#2 Azores, #10 Captain Turk, #6 Winter Is Over, #9 Brother Louis

Kenilworth, 18.01.2020, Race 6, Gallops, 1400m, Turf, R65.000, 16:00GMT+2

Race Summary: Tricky. Well-bred fillies SPRINGISINTHEAIR and PROCLAIMER met in the maidens. Both have come on since and won last time out but, on that meeting, preference is for the former over this trip, despite the weight turnaround. HIDDEN STRINGS has beaten FERRARI RED and GREY PRINCESS but those rivals must be respected on these terms. ELUSIVE RAIN and WALDORF ASTORIA must confirm.

Selections:

#2 Springisintheair, #5 Proclaimer, #6 Grey Princess, #4 Ferrari Red

Kenilworth, 18.01.2020, Race 7, Gallops, 1400m, Turf, R77.500, 16:35GMT+2

Race Summary: Tricky. DYNASTIC LIGHT is above average but is bred to go ground so will need further to be seen at her best. Last-start maiden winner ALASKAN LIGHT has more to do in this company but is on the up and must be respected. Stable companion GOLD MEDAL has ability and is another to consider. However, hard-knockers ROCKIN’ RINGO, PINK FLOYD and BRANDENBURG may have their measure.

Selections:

#2 Rockin’ Ringo, #3 Pink Floyd, #8 Brandenburg, #7 Gold Medal

Kenilworth, 18.01.2020, Race 8, Gallops, 1200m, Turf, R77.500, 17:15GMT+2

Race Summary: Stable companions WILL SCARLET and MOON ROCK race well on the speed so are likely to ensure a helter-skelter pace. WORLDS YOUR OYSTER adopted similar tactics when winning on debut and is open to any amount of improvement. Both STOPALLTHECLOCKS and AQUA BOLT have the form to be competitive, though REGIMENTAL is also likely to have a say. SAVEA, RED EIGHT and FORTY DAYS can earn.

Selections:

#8 Worlds Your Oyster, #4 Aqua Bolt, #3 Regimental, #1 Stopalltheclocks

Best Win: #1 IN AURO

Best Value Bet:

Best Longshot: #8 WORLDS YOUR OYSTER
