Kenilworth Preview – 21 December

Kenilworth, 21.12.2019, Race 1, Gallops, 900m, Turf, R75.000, 12:45GMT+2

Race Summary: FAVORITA attracted support on debut and showed good pace throughout over the course and distance before being outrun late. She could prove hard to peg back now with that run under her belt. MUSICAL GLITCH has 1,50L to find on that rival but will pose a more of a threat under a 4kg claimer. LADY CATHERINE could also improve with experience. Watch the betting on the newcomers!

#1 Favorita, #5 Musical Glitch, #4 Lady Catherine, #2 Fiftyshadesdarker

Kenilworth, 21.12.2019, Race 2, Gallops, 1000m, Turf, R70.000, 13:20GMT+2

Race Summary: FREEDOM SEEKER was only narrowly beaten in her second start (1250m) having caught the eye on debut over this trip. She has been freshened and is expected to make further improvement, so should feature prominently. WATCH ME NOW and TO DO RON RON have the form and experience to have a say, although newcomer ASHANTI needn’t be special to make her presence felt. Watch the betting!

#6 Freedom Seeker, #4 Ashanti, #1 Watch Me Now, #2 To Do Ron Ron

Kenilworth, 21.12.2019, Race 3, Gallops, 1600m, Turf, R70.000, 13:55GMT+2

Race Summary: Open. EVENING SONG, BLUE GANGSTA and CROSS COURT are all capable of better after disappointing last starts. FOXY LADY and FORGET O’ GIRLS can have a say if improving over this trip. BLUE DUCHESS, NORTHWEST PASSAGE and VOICE OF REASON should also have more to offer going this distance. TWO FOR TEA, STILL TAPPIN and CATCHAFALLINGSTAR have ability and will enjoy the longer run-in.

#11 Catchafallingstar, #14 Still Tappin, #15 Voice Of Reason, #3 Two For Tea

Kenilworth, 21.12.2019, Race 4, Gallops, 1800m, Turf, R70.000, 14:32GMT+2

Race Summary: CONGO COMPAQ has gone close in his last two starts and refitting of blinkers is likely to result in him doing so again. MORSE is closely matched with that rival and will be competitive with Strydom booked for the ride. FLOWERSCAPE has also been knocking on the door of a maiden win recently and from pole position could have a role to play. CYCLONIC BREEZE isn’t without a chance

#1 Congo Compaq, #2 Morse, #3 Flowerscape, #7 Cyclonic Breeze

Kenilworth, 21.12.2019, Race 5, Gallops, 1800m, Turf, R200.000, 15:07GMT+2

Race Summary: Paddock Stakes prep for most. On their meeting in the Gold Bracelet, there should be little between stable companions SILVANO’S PRIDE and MIYABI GOLD on these terms. Both made winning seasonal reappearances and are likely to have come on since. HELEN’S IDEAL and STAR FIGHTER are consistent and could have a say on these terms. PRINCESS IRENE and SNAPSCAN could play minor roles.

#1 Silvano’s Pride, #2 Miyabi Gold, #6 Star Fighter, #7 Princess Irene

Kenilworth, 21.12.2019, Race 6, Gallops, 1800m, Turf, R350.000, 15:45GMT+2

Race Summary: Star colt HAWWAAM missed his intended comeback in last week’s Green Point but this appears an easier task for him to make a winning Cape debut. TWIST OF FATE finished 1,50L adrift of that rival in last year’s Daily News so should pose a threat on 1kg better terms in his first run for the new yard. On that form, CAPOEIRA may also get closer to that pair. BUNKER HUNT can earn too

#1 Hawwaam, #4 Twist Of Fate, #7 Capoeira, #6 Bunker Hunt

Kenilworth, 21.12.2019, Race 7, Gallops, 1600m, Turf, R1.000.000, 16:30GMT+2

Race Summary: Smashing renewal. AFRICAN WARRIOR, EDEN ROC and PUTONTHEREDLIGHT have yet to reach the heights of their 2yo seasons but are capable if bouncing back to  best. KING OF GEMS and SILVER OPERATOR won their trials and are likely to feature prominently. CAPTAIN TATTERS and SACHDEV should pose a threat again. VIVA RIO, MACTHIEF, KILINDINI and WILD COAST have earning potential too.

#4 King Of Gems, #5 Silver Operator, #6 Captain Tatters, #16 Wild Coast

Kenilworth, 21.12.2019, Race 8, Gallops, 1600m, Turf, R77.500, 17:05GMT+2

Race Summary: Competitive. PARTERRE ran well at this level last time (ahead of ROCKIN’ RINGO) and gave the impression that this step up in trip will be more to his liking. Fellow 3yo’s PINKERTON and HURRICANE HARRY receive weight from that rival so could have his measure. Both are well-bred, progressive types with solid form credentials. PATH OF CHOICE and DOPPIO ORO have earning potential.

#6 Pinkerton, #8 Hurricane Harry, #1 Parterre, #2 Rockin’ Ringo

Kenilworth, 21.12.2019, Race 9, Gallops, 1000m, Turf, R82.500, 17:40GMT+2

Race Summary: AL WAHED had the cheekpieces removed when showing signs of improvement last time but needs to find more to turn the tables on course-and-distance specialists DRAGON POWER and APOLLO ACE who are consistent at this level.  SKIDOO and FIRE WALKER are likely to inject pace from the off which could suit Highveld raider SUCCESSION and bottom-weight HARDFALLINGRAIN under just 48kg!

#1 Dragon Power, #2 Apollo Ace, #9 Hardfallingrain, #4 Skidoo

Best Win: #1 HAWWAAM
