RACE BY RACE PREVIEWS: KENILWORTH@2019.11.30

Kenilworth, 30.11.2019, Race 1, Gallops, 900m, Turf, R75.000, 13:10GMT+2

Race Summary: The first 2yo race of the Cape season and the betting should provide a guide to the chances of these newcomers. On pedigree, THOMAS HENRY is likely to be a forward baby so is of obvious interest. The booking of in-form Aldo Domeyer also bodes well for this colt’s chances. Fillies STUCK ON YOU, CAPTAIN’S FLO and LADY CATHERINE could pose a threat in receipt of weight.

Selections:

#3 Thomas Henry, #6 Lady Catherine, #7 Stuck On You, #2 Star Captain

Kenilworth, 30.11.2019, Race 2, Gallops, 1200m, Turf, R70.000, 13:50GMT+2

Race Summary: DIVA’S EXPRESS caught the eye when running on smartly over shorter on debut. She will be better for the run and on that evidence is also likely to appreciate the extra. Pacey CARIBBEAN SUNSET has been threatening to shed her maiden tag and will be prominent again. Likely improvers LADY WYLIE and BLUE DUCHESS can get in on the action too. Watch the betting on newcomer CINNABAR.

Selections:

#10 Diva’s Express, #2 Caribbean Sunset, #7 Blue Duchess, #9 Cinnabar

Kenilworth, 30.11.2019, Race 3, Gallops, 1600m, Turf, R70.000, 14:25GMT+2

Race Summary: IMPERIAL RAGE has become costly to follow but could make amends for a new yard. FLOWERSCAPE has shown enough over this distance to be competitive while stablemate BOLLINGER is unexposed over the trip and could have more to offer going the extra. Improving MIDNIGHT BADGER should be in the mix. This won’t take much winning so the chances of newcomer PANNINGTON must be respected

Selections:

#3 Bollinger, #4 Imperial Rage, #5 Flowerscape, #11 Pannington

Kenilworth, 30.11.2019, Race 4, Gallops, 1600m, Turf, R72.500, 15:00GMT+2

Race Summary: Cases can be made for each of these but it could pay to follow the progress of promising well-bred 3yo’s FLAME TREE and FOLLOW THE STAR who are distance suited. QUICKSTEP LADY could also have more to offer over this trip so appears dangerous under bottom weight. ESTEEMAL won a better race last time so is respected, as are consistent hard-knockers VOMANDLA and CRUSADES PROMISE

Selections:

#4 Flame Tree, #5 Follow The Star, #1 Esteemal, #7 Quickstep Lady

Kenilworth, 30.11.2019, Race 5, Gallops, 1400m, Turf, R77.500, 15:35GMT+2

Race Summary: Good race. Both PATH OF CHOICE and GOLD MEDAL have improved after gelding and are open to further progress. The former will be competitive but concedes weight to most, while the latter may now need further to be seen at his best. HURRICANE HARRY was 2nd over track and trip to exciting Kilindini in a similar contest last time and need only repeat that to go one better in this.

Selections:

#5 Hurricane Harry, #3 Gold Medal, #2 Path Of Choice, #4 Horatius

Kenilworth, 30.11.2019, Race 6, Gallops, 1200m, Turf, R82.500, 16:10GMT+2

Race Summary: Open. Course-and-distance winner BALTIMORE JACK wasn’t disgraced under a big weight behind CELTIC VOYAGER last time. Both have scope and are entitled to improvement so should be competitive. NATURALIST could pose more of a threat having needed his last start. POWER GRID, BERNIE and NASTY HARRY are consistent at this level of the handicap and likely to feature prominently.

Selections:

#1 Power Grid, #2 Bernie, #3 Nasty Harry, #5 Celtic Voyager

Kenilworth, 30.11.2019, Race 7, Gallops, 1200m, Turf, R80.000, 16:55GMT+2

Race Summary: Wide open. SHAMROCK WIND sets a good standard and will be competitive on her recent form. ROLL IN THE HAY and stablemate SAILING SHIP acquitted themselves well in a 1400m Grade 2 and can pose a threat reverting to this trip. RUSH HOUR GIRL and CROWDED HOUSE also have claims at this level having run in a feature last time out. LANA BELLE represents value under these conditions.

Selections:

#10 Lana Belle, #1 Shamrock Wind, #3 Roll In The Hay, #9 Sailing Ship

Kenilworth, 30.11.2019, Race 8, Gallops, 1200m, Turf, R65.000, 17:30GMT+2

Race Summary: DRAMA QUEEN caught the eye in Gr. 2 feature when running on from a hopeless position to finish ahead of MIRAGE, who fluffed her lines but is worth another chance reverting to this trip with blinkers now fitted. DARK CRYSTAL returns from a layoff but must be respected given the strength of the form ofher maiden win. FLEECED and STELLA’S STORY aren’t without a chance either.

Selections:

#2 Drama Queen, #4 Dark Crystal, #3 Mirage, #6 Fleeced

Best Win: #5 HURRICANE HARRY

Best Value Bet:

Best Longshot: #10 LANA BELLE
