Happy Valley Track Spy – June 5

Race 5 Number 2 Electric Lightning

Was given a strange ride last start after the jockey decided to take off from the rear of the field at the 800m and to sit outside the leader from the 600m. The mid-race exertion eventually took its toll inside the 150m but the horse did well to hold for fourth, beaten 2 ¾ lengths.

With a better judged ride, he appears capable of finding a spot in the finish this week.

Race 6 Number 4 Cordyceps

Did not disgrace himself last start despite going down as the well-backed favourite. After jumping from barrier 9, he raced no better than three-wide throughout in a race where the early speed was true, and his run came to an end inside the final 200m but he still held for second place.

Switching to Happy Valley looks ideal where he has drawn an inside barrier for the first time in a while, so it would appear that he will get a conducive run up on the speed and prove a big winning chance when it matters.

Race 3 Number 3 Iron Boy

Drops to Class 4 where he is two wins from as many starts and last start he caught the eye with a fast finishing last 400m in 22.65 seconds over this distance. Start to follow now that he’s back in grade.

Race 6 Number 11 All You Know

At four of his last five starts he has reeled off some of the best closing splits and is never beaten far, and this appears the type of race where he is capable of bouncing back for a win.
