Race 9 Number 9 Champion’s Way

Far from disgraced himself at his first try over the mile last time despite narrowly going down as the odds-on favourite. For a three-year-old to carry close to top weight in Class 2 is no mean feat, while the sectionals of the race suggest that those closest to the lead speed would feel the pinch late, so it was no surprise to see backmarkers finishing first and third.

He tries Group company for the first time this week but looks more than capable of measuring up.

Race 10 Number 6 Pakistan Friend

Has his third start for trainer Paul O’Sullivan this week after putting in unusual performance where he tailed off to last, beaten 18 ½ lengths. That run was deemed unacceptable by the stewards, and perhaps the blistering early sectionals played their part when asked for an effort in the straight.

He has since trialled well in blinkers for the first time which will be worn on race day, and should he perform somewhere near his early runs, he’d be a good chance in a race like this.
