RACE BY RACE PREVIEWS: KENILWORTH@2019.05.18

Kenilworth, 18.05.2019, Race 1, Gallops, 1200m, Turf, R83.000, 12:50GMT+2

Race Summary: A smart start all of these having won on debut. GENERAL FRANCO lived up to the hype on debut and on that evidence must be followed. DOUBLE ALLIANCE wasbacked in a 2yo feature on Met day and acquitted himself well. He has been gelded since and should be better suited to this trip. FEARLESS WARRIOR should get closer to MINNESOTA DREAM. Both KING OF GEMS and MARCO POLO can earn.

Selections:

#3 General Franco, #1 Double Alliance, #5 Marco Polo, #4 King Of Gems

Kenilworth, 18.05.2019, Race 2, Gallops, 2000m, Turf, R80.000, 13:25GMT+2

Race Summary: MARY MOON should not be a maiden for much longer and on exposed form will be a factor in the finish. FLYING SQUADRON was not beaten far by that rival last time so should play a role too. However, stable companions CRIMEA and ROSALIE RUNS are open to any amount of improvement over the extra, so could pose more a threat – though preference is for the former. BELEM has claims too.

Selections:

#2 Crimea, #1 Mary Moon, #3 Flying Squadron, #4 Rosalie Runs

Kenilworth, 18.05.2019, Race 3, Gallops, 1000m, Turf, R80.000, 14:00GMT+2

Race Summary: CAPKUTA disappointed when finishing behind ROCK SPIRIT last time. Both should be competitive again but the former can make amends if making the expected improvement in first-time headgear, although the same could be said of KINGSTON ROCK. SALT and GOLD PACT have earning potential too. Watch the betting on the newcomers. The raced runners will see you thru Leg 1 of the Pick 6.

Selections:

#7 Capkuta, #2 Rock Spirit, #4 Kingston Rock, #10 Stopalltheclocks

Kenilworth, 18.05.2019, Race 4, Gallops, 1000m, Turf, R80.000, 14:35GMT+2

Race Summary: CAPTAIN’S DARLING acquitted herself well in a 1200m 2yo feature last time after two promising sprints over this trip. She has run well in open company before and with natural mprovement should go close here. NATURAL JADE and QUEEN OF POP make most appeal of the older brigade and should be competitive. Speedy SUPE LADY can feature too. Watch the betting on PRINCESS ANGELINE.

Selections:

#5 Captain’s Darling, #1 Natural Jade, #2 Queen Of Pop, #7 Queen Of Quiet

Kenilworth, 18.05.2019, Race 5, Gallops, 1200m, Turf, R83.000, 15:10GMT+2

Race Summary: BOOMPS A DAISY was not disgraced on handicap debut last time despite excuses. She has more scope for than most and with improvement should have the measure of this field. WINDOW TO AFRICA may have found 1400m too far when returning from a rest last time and better can be expected of her over this trip with that run under her belt. CROWDED HOUSE, OMEGA FORCE and MUMTAZ can earn

Selections:

#4 Boomps A Daisy, #2 Window To Africa, #3 Omega Force, #1 Crowded House

Kenilworth, 18.05.2019, Race 6, Gallops, 1700m, Turf, R83.000, 15:50GMT+2

Race Summary: Tricky. ROCK ON WOOD, DANCING SALLY and WALLIS SIMPSON weren’t far off improving HEAVEN’S EMBRACE in a similar contest over 1600m last time, and there should be little separating that quartet again. HAMMIE’S FAN was backed last time when adopting frontrunning tactics and holds HEAVEN’S EMBRACE on these terms, so warrants respect. JE NE SAIS QUOI is not without a chance either.

Selections:

#4 Wallis Simpson, #1 Heaven’s Embrace, #2 Dancing Sally, #3 Je Ne Sais Quoi

Kenilworth, 18.05.2019, Race 7, Gallops, 1600m, Turf, R86.000, 16:25GMT+2

Race Summary: Good race. Well-bred NEXUS has been beaten by distance-specialist CROME YELLOW over course and distance before but is weighted to turn the tables on these terms. DYNAMITE JACK and BEN-HUR should give better accounts of themselves reverting to this trip, while DEEPSTON is open to improvement trying the extra. ROCKIN’ RINGO has scope and could get a look in too.

Selections:

#5 Nexus, #2 Crome Yellow, #3 Deepston, #1 Ben-Hur

Kenilworth, 18.05.2019, Race 8, Gallops, 1400m, Turf, R72.000, 17:00GMT+2

Race Summary: Open. DESTIN has been in good form since leaving the maidens, albeit over further, and should be competitive again. FATEFUL has improved in blinkers (last 3 runs) and should be a factor from pole position. However, he finished behind ICON KING last time and the latter is weighted to confirm that form on these terms. PINK FLOYD, in-form NATURALIST and SHERWOOD FOREST have claims

Selections:

#8 Icon King, #2 Fateful, #1 Destin, #5 Naturalist

Best Win: #5 NEXUS

Best Value Bet: #8 ICON KING

Best Longshot: #8 ICON KING
