Greyville Preview – 18 May

Greyville, 18.05.2019, Race 1, Gallops, 1000m, Turf, R105.000, 12:00GMT+2

Race Summary: Well bred FASHION CHIC could start things off nicely for the Garth Puller stable. She was not disgraced in a trial that has produced two subsequent winners. Stable mate RASPUTIN’S REMEDY may go a bit further but also showed something in his trial. He should improve. THOMAS SHELBY will be a big runner though. He has shown up well on turf and poly. BINARY STAR can earn.

#11 Fashion Chic, #9 Thomas Shelby, #8 Rasputin’s Remedy, #7 Binary Star

Greyville, 18.05.2019, Race 2, Gallops, 1200m, Turf, R105.000, 12:35GMT+2

Race Summary: Competitive as many have shown potential. LADY CAROLINE LAMB won her trial and should relish the longer trip. But WINTERTIME was finishing fast behind her and this after sitting at the back. She has a plum draw and top rider up. PREFERENTIAL was doing the bare minium behind them and can only improve. ANOTHER SECRET, CENTRE STAGE and INNOGEN rate serious dangers.

#9 Lady Caroline Lamb, #14 Wintertime, #1 Another Secret, #13 Preferential

Greyville, 18.05.2019, Race 3, Gallops, 1400m, Turf, R105.000, 13:05GMT+2

Race Summary: CASTELLANO caught the eye in her trial – see how the Lady Caroline Lamb trial form line in the previous race works out before making your move. She is well bred and jumps from a good draw albeit over further. SHOOT THE WAGON is getting there and is one of many an elder that can pull it off. LIQUID IRISH, SUMMER DAY, ALLEZ LA BLEU and MS ROSA PARKS can threaten. More in it.

#11 Castellano, #6 Shoot The Wagon, #1 Liquid Irish, #12 Franks Petal

Greyville, 18.05.2019, Race 4, Gallops, 1400m, Turf, R88.000, 13:40GMT+2

Race Summary: VIA SALARIA was able to settle with a good pace in a sprint last and he won well. The blinkers are off and there will be good pace on here so he can follow up. MASHARI has the form needed to win this kind of race but has drawn wide. TECHNO CAPTAIN has been a bit unlucky recently and would be deserving. FIORANO could settle and enjoy it. Many more can score.

#6 Via Salaria, #4 Mashari, #11 Techno Captain, #1 Fiorano

Greyville, 18.05.2019, Race 5, Gallops, 2200m, Turf, R100.000, 14:15GMT+2

Race Summary: Wide open. IRON BORN could not find a way through and it is a big field again but hopefully his champion rider can assist him. ZANZIBARIAN has been loving the poly but deserves another try on the turf. He has drawn well. JACK OF HEARTS is knocking hard at the door and with bottom weight can threaten again. PAYBACKTHEMONEY and CLOUDS OF WITNESS should be right there. More in it.

#11 Iron Born, #1 Zanzibarian, #13 Jack Of Hearts, #12 Paybackthemoney

Greyville, 18.05.2019, Race 6, Gallops, 2000m, Turf, R150.000, 14:50GMT+2

Race Summary: MIYABI GOLD won a feature after rest to back up her earlier Grade 2 win. She beat SABINA’S DYNASTY who was finishing nicely and is 1,5kg better off at the weights for one length. The former has the better draw here. EXPEDITE needed her last (coughing)-capable. ROY’S RIVIERA, FLICHITY BY FARR, DYNASTY’S BLOSSOM, SNAPSCAN, PERFECT AIR, WOODSTOCK FAIRY and more can threaten.

#1 Sabina’s Dynasty, #2 Miyabi Gold, #9 Expedite, #14 Woodstock Fairy

Greyville, 18.05.2019, Race 7, Gallops, 1900m, Turf, R500.000, 15:25GMT+2

Race Summary: Always a great race. All need to turn in their best to have a chance to get into the world famous Vodacom Durban July .  DOUBLEMINT was a solid 6th in the Sun Met and overall has the form needed to win a race like this. Stablemates MADE TO CONQUER and MAGNIFICENT SEVEN are tough sorts too. EYES WIDE OPEN, KAMPALA CAMPARI, FRESNAYE and CAMPHORATUS could be challenging hard.

#6 Doublemint, #2 Made To Conquer, #9 Camphoratus, #11 Orpheus

Greyville, 18.05.2019, Race 8, Gallops, 1600m, Turf, R130.000, 16:05GMT+2

Race Summary: More top horseflesh. HEAD HONCHO is prepping for the big races but he races fresh and presumably comes into the race in good spirits after running an absolute humdinger of a race in the Sun Met. PLATINUM PRINCE has shown the kind of form needed to win a feature race. He certainly can go close in this. MATADOR MAN could be finishing best if he jumps well. Q THE MUSIC can earn.

#1 Head Honcho, #3 Platinum Prince, #2 Matador Man, #4 Q The Music

Greyville, 18.05.2019, Race 9, Gallops, 1600m, Turf, R82.000, 16:40GMT+2

Race Summary: From some of the best races on the day to the toughest. Anything can happen in the last and exotic bets especially the quartet will be worth catching. ISLA MORADA was gutsy in winning and being a Master Of My Fate filly can get better. BIKER BABE is running well at present but has a wide draw. BARINOIS needs to bring her poly form to the turf. ROY’S PONY can go well here.

#3 Isla Morada, #12 Biker Babe, #11 Barinois, #1 Roy’s Pony

Best Win: #1 HEAD HONCHO

Best Value Bet: #6 DOUBLEMINT

Best Longshot: #6 DOUBLEMINT
