Clarton Super out, King Louis in

King Louis is primed to contest the Group 1 Kranji Mile (1600m) on May 25.

Singapore Turf Club Press Release

Connections of King Louis have accepted the invitation to run their charge in the $1.5 million Group 1 Kranji Mile (1600m) on May 25 following the withdrawal of Clarton Super on Tuesday.

The field size therefore remains at 10 – eight locals and two overseas horses from Hong Kong, last year’s inaugural Kranji Mile winner Southern Legend and Singapore Sling.

The Tan Kah Soon-trained Clarton Super will instead be aimed at one of the other two feature races on the undercard that night, the $800,000 Group 1 Lion City Cup (1200m). The third feature race is the $800,000 Group 1 Singapore Guineas (1600m), the third Leg of the Singapore Three-Year-Old Challenge.

Prepared by trainer Ricardo Le Grange, King Louis (105 points) is a four-year-old by Medaglia D’Oro who boasts four wins and six placings from 14 starts at Kranji, the career highlight being the Group 3 El Dorado Classic (2000m) last September.
