Azzopardi suspended one month, Riduan, Shafrizal suspended, Logan fined

Azzopardi's one-month suspension will stand.

RACE 2 [TF: 0508]

App AB Riduan, the rider of GAMELY, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii) in that near the 900m, he permitted his mount to shift inwards, when insufficiently clear of IRON GIANT (R Woodworth), which had to be checked.

When deciding on penalty, the Stewards took into account his record, guilty plea and the degree of interference and carelessness.

App Riduan was suspended from riding in races with effect from Monday, 13 May 2019 to Sunday, 19 May 2019 both dates inclusive (two Singapore Race Days) and was advised of his Right of Appeal.

This penalty will be served consecutively following the completions of his suspension from Saturday, 27 April 2019 until Sunday, 05 May 2019 both dates inclusive (two Singapore Race Days) and from Monday, 06 May 2019 to Sunday, 12 May 2019 both dates inclusive (two Singapore Race Days).

RACE 3 [TF: 0509]

J Azzopardi (pictured), the rider of PER INPOWER, was found guilty to a charge of foul riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(b)(i) in that for some distance passing the 1000m, he deliberately shifted his mount out to a point where it made heavy contact with REDDOT RISING (S Noh) on several occasions, forcing the horse out off its course near the 900m, subsequently resulting in that horse becoming very unbalanced.  MRA Rule 44(9)(b)(i) reads:

44 (9)  No Jockey shall cause interference in a race or trial or ride in a manner which, in the opinion of the Stewards, is:

(b) foul, improper, or incompetent and for the purpose of this Rule, the following shall apply:

(i)            “Foul riding” shall comprise any deliberate or intentional act to interfere with the riding of another rider or horse in the race.

When deciding on penalty, the Stewards took into account his record and the nature of the charge.

Jockey Azzopardi was suspended from riding in races with effect from Monday, 06 May 2019 to Wednesday, 05 June 2019 both dates inclusive (a period of one month) and was advised of his Right of Appeal.

This penalty will be served consecutively following the completion of his suspension from Saturday, 27 April 2019 until Sunday, 05 May 2019 both dates inclusive (two Singapore Race Days).

RACE 5 [TF: 0511]

Acting on veterinary advice that NOT USUAL PRINCE had not been vaccinated in accordance with MRA Regulation 20.1, the Panel of Stewards ordered its withdrawal at 1327Hrs.

After considering submissions from Trainer D Logan regarding the gelding being presented to race today when not having complied with the requirement for vaccinations and that CLOUD SHADOW the first emergency had been denied a start in the race, Trainer D Logan was fined a sum of S$2,000 for breaching MRA Regulation 20.6.

RACE 8 [TF: 0514]

App S Shafrizal, the rider of EAGLE EYE, in the presence of Trainer M Clements’ B Trainer, Mr M White, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii) in that near the 750m, he permitted his mount to shift inwards, when not clear of AUTUMN RUSH (App WH Kok), taking that horse inwards across the rightful running of RAISE NO DOUBT (S Noh), which had to be checked.

When deciding on penalty, the Stewards took into account his record, guilty plea, the degree of interference and carelessness and submissions from App Shafrizal that he has been engaged to ride at the Singapore Race Meeting on Friday, 26 April 2019.

App Shafrizal was suspended from riding in races with effect from Saturday, 27 April 2019 to Friday, 10 May 2019 both dates inclusive (three Singapore Race Days) and was advised of his Right of Appeal.
