Durbanville Preview – 13 April

Durbanville, 13.04.2019, Race 1, Gallops, 1400m, Turf, R83.000, 13:25GMT+2

Race Summary: CAPTAIN OF STEALTH couldn’t have impressed more on debut, and seems certain to prove to be Vaughan Marshall’s next boom Captain Al colt. Very hard to beat. MINNESOTA DREAM also caught the eye on debut, and seems better than his latest. FINDING CAMELOT and MARCO POLO both won at  this track and deserve respect.

#1 Captain Of Stealth, #4 Minnesota Dream, #2 Finding Camelot, #3 Marco Polo

Durbanville, 13.04.2019, Race 2, Gallops, 1000m, Turf, R91.000, 14:00GMT+2

Race Summary: CELESTIAL STORM was backed and won over course and distance a month ago, and despite big weight has a fair chance again. VELVET DAWN is now 2kg better off however, and may well turn the tables. WESTERN ANGEL can threaten if not too sharp. NASTERGAL is a classy miler, but is presumably prepping for theCape Winter Series.

#3 Velvet Dawn, #1 Celestial Storm, #4 Western Angel, #2 Nastergal

Durbanville, 13.04.2019, Race 3, Gallops, 1250m, Turf, R80.000, 14:35GMT+2

Race Summary: BELLA SUMMER has the best form, but has been off for three months, and may find this sharp. Slight preference for LOUISA MAY, who may well prefer this shorter trip. LIP SERVICE is another who has a fighting chance if at best. FLY MISS KIM and ALWAYS DANCING have fair form, and scope for improvement.

#2 Louisa May, #3 Lip Service, #1 Bella Summer, #4 Fly Miss Kim

Durbanville, 13.04.2019, Race 4, Gallops, 1250m, Turf, R80.000, 15:10GMT+2

Race Summary: Limited bunch. EMPIRE GLORY is drawn 1, and this could be the day he finally exits the maidens. WADI RUM was only a neck behind him last time though, and will challenge if confirming. GOLD PACT has shown flashes of ability and can pop up. KINGSTON ROCK improved in work riders company. WINDY FLIGHT is best weighted but may prefer 1000m. BROTHER LOUIS has plenty of scope.

#2 Empire Glory, #4 Gold Pact, #7 Wadi Rum, #3 Kingston Rock

Durbanville, 13.04.2019, Race 5, Gallops, 2000m, Turf, R91.000, 15:45GMT+2

Race Summary: ST VLADIMIR is improving at a rate of knots, and seems destined for bigger things. Will be very difficult to deny. Stable mate GRAND SILVANO never runsbadly, and will challenge. LINE EDITOR is better off at the weights, and should make more of a race of it. Top weight GYRE is another sure to be involved.

#3 St Vladimir, #5 Line Editor, #4 Grand Silvano, #1 Gyre

Durbanville, 13.04.2019, Race 6, Gallops, 1600m, Turf, R86.000, 16:20GMT+2

Race Summary: NEXUS finished like a train from an impossible position in his post maiden outing, and the form has been franked. Will be hard to beat if handling this track. MAGIC MIKE beat him in the maidens, and looks the main danger again. SAILING LIZARD has been running in features, and can also pop up if this isn’t too short.

#4 Nexus, #1 Magic Mike, #2 Sailing Lizard, #6 Rochester

Durbanville, 13.04.2019, Race 7, Gallops, 1000m, Turf, R80.000, 16:55GMT+2

Race Summary: Improving ICON PRINCESS won nicely here last time, and despite 62kg can go in again. The juvenile CAPACITY CROWD is a big danger though with 52.5 kg. She quickened well to win her maiden at this track, and the form has worked out. Snaith stablemates WHAT A RED and MUMTAZ should both challenge at the weights.

#1 Icon Princess, #9 Capacity Crowd, #5 What A Red, #3 Mumtaz

Durbanville, 13.04.2019, Race 8, Gallops, 1250m, Turf, R102.000, 17:30GMT+2

Race Summary: Open contest. Top weight OUR MATE ART loves this course and races well fresh. He has an each way shout. PERCIVAL is in top form, and another who thrives here. Go close. READY STEADY GO finished in front of him last time, but is now poorly drawn. FABIAN was a fluent winner of a PE feature last time, and to complete a strong Bass-Robinson presence, MERAKI can surprise.
