Chaparral Star returns to his proven track and distance. Look for him late in the piece. 1. Big Fortune should lead, or at least be handy, but he was weak in the finish off slow sectionals last start.

Thrilled ran well on debut and should be a big improver second-up with Purton on. 8. Team Spirit disappointed at Happy Valley last start so could bounce back at Sha Tin. 10. First Responder showed good improvement second-up and can go close third-up.

Race 9: 1. Waikuku faces his toughest test yet – up in distance and against better horses – he needs to win to warrant a Derby berth. 2. Enrichment, Waikuku’s stable mate, drops back from a solid win over the Derby distance and can prove the testing material. 6. Charity Go returned to form with a solid third to Enrichment last start. 9. Sunny Speed ran ok on debut in the Classic Cup; expect big improvement second-up.
