Race Summary: Tricky opener. LION KING just needed his last run and should make a bold bid. CAPTAIN FLYNT stayed on nicely on debut and the form has been franked. BELTON ROAD races as a gelding now after a long break – respect. RESPONSIBLE wasn’t disgraced on debut and if ready after a lengthy lay-off could strike fresh. TRIPPLE Z also makes debut as gelding and with THE SANDS can earn.

Race Summary: WHAT A THRILL needed her last run and from a favorable draw could beat the males. GREATEST WISH races as a gelding for the first time and any improvement should see him fight it out. MAROON BELLS and TOASTMASTER weren’t disgraced in their first runs as geldings and could come on. THE MAKWAKKERS is improving with racing and warrants respect. Filly CHOUETTE should enjoy the mile.

Selections:

#10 What A Thrill, #2 Greatest Wish, #3 Maroon Bells, #4 The Makwakkers

Turffontein Standside, 02.03.2019, Race 3, Gallops, 2000m, Turf, R120.000, 12:25GMT+2

Race Summary: Every runner could pull it off. THE DAZZLER is holding form and despite his hefty weight could chalk up a 4th victory. TOP SHOT is 1,5kg better off with him for half a length so must be there. GIFT FOR THE GAP has ability and could be in the shake-up off a handy weight. AMERICAN INDIAN has decent form. VERDIER is doing better and with THRONG make up the short list.

Selections:

#1 The Dazzler, #2 Top Shot, #6 Gift For The Gap, #7 Verdier

Turffontein Standside, 02.03.2019, Race 4, Gallops, 2000m, Turf, R136.000, 13:00GMT+2

Race Summary: DAWN ASSAULT is in form and and always gives of his best. SYLVAN ON FIRE is back home and is ready to produce her best. PUGET SOUND won his only try this distance and should be fitter. LIEGE could be finding form again. CASH TIME has ability and could resume winning ways. GREEK FIRE has been a bit disappointing but has a light weight to shoulder.

Selections:

#5 Sylvan On Fire, #1 Dawn Assault, #2 Puget Sound, #4 Liege

Turffontein Standside, 02.03.2019, Race 5, Gallops, 2400m, Turf, R150.000, 13:35GMT+2

Race Summary: WALTER SMOOTHIE gives a lot of weight all round but could take the AQUANAUT Handicap. WONDEROUS CLIMBER blotted his copybook last time but receives 8kg from the Stuart Pettigrew colt and could get back on track. ODD ROB disappointed slightly last time but is back over a better trip. TIRZAN showed good improvement last time. ILITSHE often rises to the occasion.

Selections:

#1 Walter Smoothie, #7 Wonderous Climber, #4 Odd Rob, #8 Tirzan

Turffontein Standside, 02.03.2019, Race 7, Gallops, 1600m, Turf, R250.000, 14:50GMT+2

Race Summary: The ACACIA Handicap attracted a good field. Both GREENER PASTURES and TAMARINA won their only try at this course over this distance. The latter finished 1 length ahead of the Mike De Kock filly over 1400m but now gets 2kg. INSIGNIS needed her last run but Gavin appears to have opted for honest BEING FABULOUS. FLYING FABLE could prove best of the rest.

Selections:

Turffontein Standside, 02.03.2019, Race 8, Gallops, 1800m, Turf, R1.250.000, 15:30GMT+2

Race Summary: The WILGERBOSDRIFT SA FILLIES CLASSIC is competitive. NAFAAYES made heavy weather last time in the Guineas when shading RUNNING BRAVE with RONNIE’S CANDY not far behind, however, she needed the outing and could confirm. The extra 200m will be interesting and RONNIE’S CANDY could stay best. STORM DESTINY wasn’t travelling last time and a better showing is expected.

Selections:

#2 Ronnie’s Candy, #1 Nafaayes, #5 Running Brave, #7 Storm Destiny

Turffontein Standside, 02.03.2019, Race 9, Gallops, 1800m, Turf, R2.000.000, 16:10GMT+2

Race Summary: HAWWAAM and NATIONAL PARK renew rivalry in the SA CLASSIC. Both do well at this course but over the extra HAWWAAM could have the upper hand. Respect stable companion BARAHIN who needed the run in the Guineas badly. Other in-mates ALYAASAAT (needed his first run as a gelding) and ATYAAB (probably looking for the Derby trip) as well as ZILLZAAL could get into the money.

Selections:

#2 Hawwaam, #4 Barahin, #1 National Park, #6 Atyaab

Turffontein Standside, 02.03.2019, Race 10, Gallops, 1000m, Turf, R114.000, 16:45GMT+2

Race Summary: MISS PINKERTON needed her last run when tiring late. She will come on heaps. She holds CASUAL WEAR who shifted under pressure on their recent meeting. ULLA is never far off and holds NICKY NOO who ran below form last time. SEE YOU TYGER has matured nicely and has a hat-trick chance. OPERA could get into the frame.

Selections:

#9 Miss Pinkerton, #3 Casual Wear, #10 See You Tyger, #7 Ulla

Turffontein Standside, 02.03.2019, Race 11, Gallops, 2400m, Turf, R110.000, 17:20GMT+2

Race Summary: This is not a strong maiden plate and even VOODOO could get lucky. WILLIAM HENLEY wasn’t disgraced on debut as a gelding and tries further still. ADOLFO could turn it around with FRENCH LEAVE over the extra. BORN RICH ran a good penultimate race and if settles here could go on with it.

Selections:

#2 William Henley, #1 Adolfo, #3 French Leave, #4 Born Rich

Turffontein Standside, 02.03.2019, Race 12, Gallops, 1400m, Turf, R98.000, 17:55GMT+2

Race Summary: RINGS AND THINGS should be ideally suited to this track and trip and the blinkers could keep her mind on things. PICCADILLY SQUARE needed her last outing and could feature. SAND PRINCESS should be thereabouts if breathing easily. WRAP IT UP and EMPRESS ROCK needed their last runs and shouldn’t be far off. FLORIDA QUAYS wasn’t disgraced in her post-maiden.

Selections:

#1 Rings And Things, #5 Piccadilly Square, #3 Sand Princess, #12 Wrap It Up
