RACE BY RACE PREVIEWS: DURBANVILLE@2019.03.02

Durbanville, 02.03.2019, Race 1, Gallops, 1000m, Turf, R80.000, 13:15GMT+2

Race Summary: Competitive despite the small field. Well-related TUTORIAL was deemed good enough to make his debut in a Met-day feature and showed promise in a field of winners. He will improve with experience and should feature prominently. MISTER VARGUS also ran well on debut behind a smart sort and with natural improvement should be competitive. Well-bred newcomer VIVANT must be respected!

Selections:

#5 Tutorial, #3 Mister Vargus, #6 Vivant, #4 Shades Of Blu

Durbanville, 02.03.2019, Race 2, Gallops, 1000m, Turf, R80.000, 13:50GMT+2

Race Summary: ROCKACHINO had experience on her side when well beaten by newcomers CAPACITY CROWD and DRAMA QUEEN last month, so is unlikely to turn the tables on those rivals who are open to any amount of improvement. HIDDEN STRINGS acquitted herself well on debut against male rivals and should have more to offer racing among her own sex with a run under her belt. Watch betting on newcomers!

Selections:

#1 Capacity Crowd, #3 Drama Queen, #4 Hidden Strings, #5 Lumiere

Durbanville, 02.03.2019, Race 3, Gallops, 1000m, Turf, R80.000, 14:25GMT+2

Race Summary: Andre Nel holds a strong hand with PROCRASTINATION and SILVER BEAUTY likely to improve after promising debut displays. The former finished clear of MAKARANGA LOVE and SUPER LADY when finishing 2nd on debut to fellow newcomer Run Fox Run, who has won again since. HOLLYWOOD BELLE was not beaten far on debut and is open to improvement on her comeback for a new yard.

Selections:

#5 Procrastination, #7 Silver Beauty, #3 Hollywood Belle, #6 Queen Of Pop

Durbanville, 02.03.2019, Race 4, Gallops, 2400m, Turf, R80.000, 15:15GMT+2

Race Summary: DEPOSITION showed improvement last time after gelding and could be hard to beat if making further progress. METROPOLITAN is overdue a maiden win after close-up finishes in his last four starts before a rest. He went closest to winning over this track and trip with blinkers fitted so should pose a threat with the headgear refitted if race ready on his return. Respect GREEK SWORD

Selections:

#1 Deposition, #2 Metropolitan, #3 Greek Sword, #6 Super Dino

Durbanville, 02.03.2019, Race 5, Gallops, 2000m, Turf, R91.000, 15:55GMT+2

Race Summary: Open. Top-weight SUMMER MOON has taken time to come to hand but won three of her last five starts, beating DEPECHE twice prior to the latter’s win last time out. There’s little between them on these terms and both should run well. Improving 3yos SECRET DEPTHS and HEAVEN’S EMBRACE will make their presence felt. WALDORF ASTORIA, EVERDENE and frontrunner ZANADU have claims too.

Selections:

#4 Depeche, #1 Summer Moon, #2 Secret Depths, #3 Heaven’s Embrace

Durbanville, 02.03.2019, Race 6, Gallops, 1600m, Turf, R83.000, 16:30GMT+2

Race Summary: Good race. SNAPSCAN was 2nd in a better race last time when trying 1600m and should be prominent from gate No 1off the same rating. INDI ANNA shed her maiden tag when stepped up to this trip and she should improve further. AFTER GLOW remains consistent and will be competitive again with blinkers now fitted. WALLIS SIMPSON could also stake a claim if overcoming her wide draw.

Selections:

#1 Snapscan, #7 Indi Anna, #9 After Glow, #11 Wallis Simpson

Durbanville, 02.03.2019, Race 7, Gallops, 1400m, Turf, R80.000, 17:05GMT+2

Race Summary: LOUISA MAY stayed on gamely under pressure last time but lacked extra late on after overcoming a wide draw and she should fare better here from a No 2 draw. LIP SERVICE finished ahead of that rival and should have another prominent role to play from an inside gate. ROSALIE RUNS wasn’t far off that pair on debut and could prove good value here with natural improvement expected.

Selections:

#10 Rosalie Runs, #1 Louisa May, #4 Lip Service, #2 Flying Squadron

Durbanville, 02.03.2019, Race 8, Gallops, 1400m, Turf, R80.000, 17:40GMT+2

Race Summary: FATEFUL made big improvement last time when fitted with blinkers under thisĀ  rider. He finished comfortably ahead of HIGH KEY and should be competitive again. The latter ran on from a hopeless position (wide draw) that day and will pose more of a threat from an inside stall. SIX DEGREES showed promise on debut and should improve with that experience over a more suitable trip.

Selections:

#1 Fateful, #4 High Key, #12 Six Degrees, #13 Susie’s Son

Best Win: #5 PROCRASTINATION

Best Value Bet:

Best Longshot: #10 ROSALIE RUNS
